So, will we get macross toys in Europe? Cause aside from Macross plus which was already available, all Macross anime sucks ass aside from 0, which was pretty good aside the spiritual bs.

There's no "will" yet. What just happened is "can." It is now a possibility that there might be Macross merchandise officially sold in Europe. Before now, it wasn't. Time will tell what actually happens.

Tatsunoko threw everyone a massive curveball by renewing the contract with Harmony Gold.
(Probably hoping to get some of that Sony Pictures money out of them)

I'm curious how you know for sure that's the official twitter? (I know very little about twitter)

There's also apparently an official youtube.

I would assume Mr. Kawamori following it would mean it's a green light.

and sadly cant speak much about the youtube since i dont know when it was made all i know is they only have 2 teaser trailers up for the new Delta movie that actually werent watchable due to 'region' since i was already subscribed to this channel already since i believe they talked about macross toys on there during Tamashii Nations 2020 but at the time they sadly also werent watchable so it was all for naught

Which series? I do point out that Macross Delta included English subtitles on all Blu-Rays because some fans-turned-professional translators in Japan convinced them of Southeast Asia's justification as a market.

I just want the original series, DYRL and Frontier Blu-rays. I am still rather skeptical.

I have the original series on DVD from an official region free release years ago... I'd love a BR of that and every series after. I'd even give Macross 7 another go >_>

I should've clarified the ROBOTECH voice cast.

    THIS

I remember many years ago at an anime convention M7 came up as the most expensive anime license on the market. I think a lot had to do with the music. They said it would be like Manga could release 1 episode, Bandai could do 3-4 episodes, ADV could do 2-3 episodes, CPM could probably do 2 episodes, Media Blasters could do 1 episode etc.

I don’t think there was an official region free release of the original series with English dubs. There were two US releases in DVD region 1, available in a few different packages.

At one point there were dozens of unofficial region-free copies of the US releases floating around, though.

there were also a lot of very popular “official Malaysian release” Macross DVDs that were region free.

So there are only two trailers up at the moment if you access it from outside Japan, but if you access in-country or use a VPN there’s a shit ton more videos that appear. I’m sure it will all be lit up in the weeks to come.

Edit: And you can watch them with VPN

I might be the only one, but I would like to see M zero, M7-Delta get official english dubs now. I dont mind sub titles and can understand enough Japanese that it doesnt bother me, but a full english dub would be awesome.

I agree if only because the production of a dub would suggest a potential wider broadcast to help really make Macross arrive domestically via something like Toonami. I’d imagine they’d probably would want to lead with one of the newer flashier series like Frontier or Delta before 7. Macross 7 being both the longest show, and the hardest to recommend as a starting point to a casual.

Dubbed movies of any kind annoy me unless they were meant to be dubbed...like those spaghetti westerns. I’ll take all my Macross in Japanese still.

I’ll still watch my Macross subbed too, but dubs are key for wider mass appeal. And after being forced to be in the shadows internationally for decades, I’d love to see the franchise get all the renown and popularity it can get.
