So, not really Charlene related but now that I've finally got the figure completely tuned in, I've branched it into another project. Hair is still just roughly blocked in - I'll sculpt in sharper detail later. That technique I learned from the tutorial I saw a couple weeks back works great for building her circuit ribbon whatever you call the stuff she's wearing (also used it for her eyebrows which made it much easier than when I did Charlene's all by hand). Her expression needs work but this is all still really early - just started working on her a couple of hours ago. I think the line in her teeth is wrong but that doesn't really matter - it won't show up in the print. I'll have to throw her head into the next print batch I do so I can see if I've got the offset on her metal parts in a good place (meaning it sticks out far enough from the rest of the model to be visible and paintable but not so far that it looks goofy). I'm going to be mostly faithful to her Marvel design but I'll probably take some minor liberties here and there. Add a bit of greebly instead of just doing smooth ribbons everywhere (we saw her with greeblies in her early appearances but I guess it was too hard to draw all the time). I'm also going to take inspiration from this pic (no idea what it's from - UK comic maybe?) I kinda' like that bulked up shoulder armor and how there's extra thickness in a few places. But mostly I'll stick to the source - I went through every issue where she makes an appearance and grabbed a bunch of reference images. I'll try not to hijack my Charlene thread with too much Circuit Breaker but I can't give her her own thread until I've got something physical to show. Thank you! The problems aren't that bad. That seam shows up sometimes but not always - just means I'll have to redo the occasional print (I really should troubleshoot it and see if it's fixable but, like I said, it doesn't always happen, so I've just kinda' been whatever about it). The forearm coming off is a minor issue - I'd like to solve it, but the figure requires kid gloves all the time anyway so I don't really have to go too far out of my way to be careful of the arms. That is an amazing job! Although I get the print lines feeling, I think there's less marks on this figure than you get on a lot of store bought stuff and not a single mold flashing! I didn't even spot the 'boob line' until I read about it, but agree it's probably a small print error. I wouldn't get too concerned about it The colours just add an extra level of wow and really brings the whole thing together - well done!
Yeah, I forgot to print the alt head with the hat, but it's included in the Thingiverse upload. Thank you! I was very careful with where I placed the supports so as not to leave any visible marks - I mostly put them on the "inside" of her parts (the areas that face other parts, such as surrounding her hip joint on the thigh pieces, on the top of the lower torso surrounding the waist peg, etc. The only place I couldn't do that was her head so there are slight marks on the bottom of her hair "fringe" in the back and one pretty damned visible one on the back of her head. Come to think of it, I should probably add the files with supports to the Thingiverse upload since they're about as ideally placed as they can be - save people the trouble of doing their own [Edit: done]. And yeah, the line is a defect. It wasn't present in the test prints. My printer makes a bit of noise at a few spots when it's moving up/down so there's probably something there that needs to be fixed. I bet that's also why I got that huge failure when I tried to print at 10 microns.
Thats the level of detail only you would know, I wouldn't have seen the mark in the hair as anything other than... hair? I'd love to know your secret in getting all the curves... curved, and lined up. I get a lot if flat planes and harsh angles with Blender, but I know that's me and not the program But I won't hijack the thread with my woes
Oh maaaan, can't wait for your Circuit Breaker figure now! You're just really messing with my comic love aren't you? I still hate missing out on getting the original comic drawing of the first page where Circuit Breaker is playing with Skids' "brain" making his body move. Luckily I did manage to pick up some other pages with her in it.
Wow, Charlene looks great! (I PM you about buying some.) The print defect you mentioned is most likely the figure not separating from the transparent film which make two (or more) layers print at the same height.
Finished Circuit Breaker's upper torso (mostly. Gotta' put in some circular cutouts in a few spots but that can wait). I'm still pondering how best to do her joints since there's no room for the added thickness of circuit ribbons in the arm sockets. Make the sockets bigger, I guess but that'll make her gappy. Hair came out kinda' lumpy - looked it up and got some tips so I'll be trying again. Still haven't done the assembly guide on Charlene. Just need to sit down with the spare set of parts I printed and take some pics but I haven't gotten around to it yet. It's really not that complicated, though, (mostly it's just a matter of inserting the hips into their sockets in the seated position and making sure you don't mix up the elbow or kneecap pieces). Also, if you print her or if you buy a kit from me, I cannot recommend this stuff enough: I spray a small amount into a disposable bowl - just enough for it to pool in the bottom - and then I use a toothpick to apply it to the joints before assembling them. Makes it so much easier to put them together without anything breaking and prevents the moving parts from grinding each other into powder. I did the kneecaps, elbows, and the shoulder pieces, assembled them, painted all the parts with my airbrush (masked off the joints and airbrushed the flesh color, then hand painted everything else), then siliconed the remaining joints and finished assembling her. Thanks! I use subdivision modifiers for my curves. It tends to make things a little too soft but you can add creases along any line you want to. I'd forgotten about her interactions with Skids. That'd be a good reenacted scene to do - disassemble Skids' head for the pic. I plan on mainly putting her with Superion and Menasor. Need to figure out how to make a clear flexible lightning effect that can wrap around her forearms and extend to both of them - it'll hold her aloft too so she looks like she's flying while zapping them. Could be. I did have to replace my FEP not too long ago and the new stuff seems cheaper - it's showing marks from where I've been printing which the previous stuff didn't do nearly as much. But there's also an issue where the printer gets a little noisy on its way down to the vat like it's straining to get over a section of the screw rod thing (whatever you call that) so it might be that. I haven't really done anything about it yet because it the problem is pretty rare but I should probably look into it.

No problem! I only play for sport - only reason I charge for prints is the time it takes me to print them, clean off the supports, cure them, package them, and make a trip to the post office. If I could somehow print them for people without having to do any of that, I would give away the prints for free. You really don't want to be curing without removing supports nor shipping uncured parts, though.
Oh I can only imagine how much fun all that works sucks the joy out of it. Plus you are up front with that information. I never did ask if you are still planning on selling the resin version, should send you a message about that.
I thought I added it to one of my posts a while back. $25 for a kit (kit = 2x head and torso parts, 3x arm and leg parts and enough pins to assemble the figure at least twice). $45 for a kit with a set of arms and legs pre-assembled (wasn't planning on charging extra for assembly but it turned out to be ridiculously time consuming). Extra parts are to cover any breakage since the parts are so delicate but you could theoretically end up with two complete figures if you're very careful during assembly. Those prices are before shipping, which is usually around $5 in the US.
Sorry if this was already said, but is this about 1:30 scale then? That would make (58mm) her 5'8.5" I was wondering about scaling it up to 1:24, which was alternator scale 72.5mm
She actually ended up 56.5mm which puts her just a smidgen under 5'7" but yeah, she's 1:30 (interesting how the numbers work out there: at 55mm she'd be 5'5" which almost makes it look like it's a straight conversion between mm and feet/inches). It'd be simple enough to scale her pieces up by a factor of 1.25 to make her 1:24 (while keeping the pinhole cutouts in her knees and elbows the original size so she still uses 1mm pins and making minor adjustements to the tolerances of her joints to keep them from getting loose). It'd give her a little more strength in her weak areas and make the details show up a little better in print. She'd definitely be too tall for Savant at that scale: he's 1:26 in alt mode. Planning on putting her with Alternators Skids? Hm, I have Alternators Skids and now I kinda' wanna' do that as well. She could probably fit inside him since the Alternators mostly used the correct dimensions for their interiors (Savant and the upcoming MP Skids both have their interiors squished really far forward to make room for robot parts).

I know you've been using that nylon stuff and I still want to try it someday but I like being able to use colored resin - gave me much better results than printing in grey and then needing to paint everything.
I really want one of the kits for MP skids, but could they be ready for assembly with paint/colors done? I don't really fear doing the assembly myself, even using copper wire or something for the pins, but I'd hate to ruin it with bad painting. I'd also love to see circuit breaker at alternators size, maybe with some greeblies on any weak spots, I think she would go wonderfully with my alternators mirage.
