They did so much remolding that they had to bump the price from the original figure???

I think I'm probably going to switch over to their store. Looks like it comes out cheaper there than at BTTS even with shipping from Fans Hobby.

I have Athena already, not too interested in this mold again. I don't see much of the remolding at all.

we can only blame TT, FT and XTB for this... everyone probably just following the examples.

Just preordered mine. I’ve been wanting a Nightbeat for a long time! I’ve been a fan since Matrix Quest!

Yep, that's definitely a worry, especially since it would be so easy to make a better Nightbeat.

But then, most of the time we've had a better version come along it was a more well-known character, or at the very least a character from the first couple of years. How often has that happened with a post-Sunbow character? Even multiple versions (or versions for that matter) of Rebirth characters are rare.

But I'd so love to be proven wrong and a have a more accurate one being announced. (MMC, you listening?)

Well that’s how it goes. It obviously would’ve been a lot cheaper to not retool as much. But cause we wanted it, that’s what we have to accept. Cause they had to spend more time making new moulds to inject plastic. That stuff ain’t free.

but, but... if you remold isn’t that cheaper than making a completely new design because you already have the basis to work from, so shouldn’t the overall price be lower?

Shhhhh, we obviously cost FansHobby billions with our demands for retools of a 3D model.

I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make.

That depends on how they calculate their costs.
Expecting a repaint to be cheaper assumes that the cost of the R&D was fully covered by the original release.
It’s possible they had an expected unit count which included the original and repaint, so the R&D cost was split evenly.
The unexpected retool costs would then have to be recouped solely on the amended batch, therefore more expensive.

So is this good or not? Hmm.
So far my favorite nightbeat ever is probably T30. I'm not sure why for such a popular character that every nightbeat release seems like "it could have been better" (T30 does a good job of representing the IDW version so I'm not complaining about that). For someone who hasnt bought any 3rd Party figures, I was kinda considering this one. I guess I'll wait to see what people have to say once they get physical copies of it.

If you look at the cost difference directly from fans hobby website, it's only like $5 more. Seems like the price hike is coming more from the retailers.

Well, people have already had ample experience with the original version of this figure, Athena/Minerva. And as you said, true to form... it could have been better. :)

I hope the shades are easy to get right. Stickering in 3d is always a dice roll for me.
