OK, I'm looking at Skorponok's scorpion mode and in this picture, when looking between his legs, there's some purple kibble on his underside that I am struggling to figure out. As far as I can tell, it doesn't correlate to anything on his robot mode. Is it just something the toy's sitting on?

It's his legs, one goes in the tail, the other along his underside

Oh, now that I'm looking closer, I can kinda make out his yellow kneecap. I was assuming both of his legs went onto his tail. Thanks.

Yeah, they definitely thinned out the volume of the front section compared to the back thruster section just observing the original concept sketch vs the actual product. Like others were saying, they were probably planning some kind of legends scale base playability, but didn't want to compromise the robot mode since that mode was probably integral to the third season of WFC. It's a shame that the nice curves of the original sketch (especially the back thruster section) are lost due to the engineering needed to make the robot mode happen :(

EDIT: also, it's a bummer that Mainframe's Teletraan 1 mode doesn't really look like the original model sketch that's faithful to G1 - but that's probably also an engineering compromise they had to make there as well.

Why Lightbright? I haven't read the new IDW comics yet.
Does it have something to do with this?

At least it's better than OG BW, where Terrorsaur was a basic while Scorponok was a mega. How the hell did their sizes get completely swapped around in the show, anyway?

Funnily enough though, Kingdom Terrorsaur might end up scaling well with Transform Element Scorponok.

I really hope there is a toy head version of Scorpinok coming, I had scorponok as a kid and that head was really impressive. The animation head ...not nearly as cool.

So how many Arks are they going to let us purchase, 1 or 2? In case of the Ark, I wouldn't mind double-dipping.

If I remember right they designed/produced the show models first but didn't give the toy designers every detail. For example Optimus Primal was first supposed to be the original G1 Optimus Prime in character but they changed that in a very late development state. That's why the original toy's head looks so much like G1 Prime.
And I guess that they were looking for how many gimmicks they want to put into a figure and how complex it's transformation needs to be and then decided how big the toy needs to be to accomplish that.
    You mean toy scale then?

I mean show scale. If Kingdom Terrorsaur is the same size as Airazor due to being a retool, then he will be taller than Transform Element Scorponok and their sizes will match up pretty closely to the image LaShomb posted above.

I just checked comparison images of TE's Scorponok - I thought he would be bigger but yea, this way he's way more in scale.

You've got that backwards, the toys definitely came first with Beast Wars

Yea, fits the bill, as well. Then they decided to change the scale for the show because a tiny Terrorsaur the same size as Rattrap would have been odd.
