I really like the way the gray gun barrel completely hides inside the chest and illuminates the chest window.

 

Yeah, I appreciate seeing most repaints upfront. A lot less buyer's regrets; like Soundwave I am leaning towards two decos the toon and the dark purple.
I didn't expect them to be this far along with Shockwave. Maybe pre-orders will start popping up soon.

I know the listing says it’s an “Animation Painting Version”, but they used the exact same wording with the EX version of Harry (Prowl), and that ended up being a toy deco release.

The fact that he has what appears to be light piping gives him the win over MS alone in my book. Not because I'm a massive fan of it (though I do like it when it is properly utilized) but because the MS version appears to just have a clear plastic eye with no light-piping, no paint on it, and doesn't work with his arm light-up feature. I just can't deal with having a dead-eyed figure ALL of the time and I shouldn't have to paint it myself. And as others have said, I do like the body proportions better and even though NA' light-up feature appears to be for his alt mode, at least it is in classic purple and not a weird, sickly yellow. Just my opinions though.

 

It's a good sales tool for them competing against MS - I was thinking I'd pick up NA Shockwave in the usual toon color, and maybe MS *if* they do a grey or black version, and maybe see what I like better for toy mode. Seeing this has me immediately thinking of toon + toy versions of NA rather than sitting around waiting for confirmation that MS is actually going to do the repaints we all think they obviously should.

The weibo video that the screencap is from demonstrates how the laser barrel lights up, and slots into the back of the chest for robot mode, making the chest light up using the same light.

 

I prefer dark purple but not if he’s metallic.

MST Shockie does have yellow lighting piping for his optic. I'm with you with the purple/pink light-up feature, though. Much prefer it to yellow.

 

  holy crap, just viewed the video. the whole gun barrel that integrates into the chest with pulsing LED lighting effect, and covered up on the back with the fold together backpack is quite amazing considering how seamless it is. well done NA, well done!  

 

Yeah, it reminds me slightly of MP Inferno’s collapsing ladder, but at a fraction of the size. It’s truly astonishing what can be achieved at this size point nowadays.

 

I feel like if/when NA makes Inferno the ladder will disappear like the MP. I passed on the MP since I don’t usually buy that scale, and I’ve passed on the other legends ones since none of them do the ladder trick.

 

i know some ppl don't like partsforming, but personally i would have been fine if they didn't have the folding connecting piece. but i do feel this implementation is better than the noodle MS used on their design.

 

These legends class toys are truly amazing.

 

Excellent timing of this video -- I was starting to think about going ahead and ordering the MS, but preferred the overall look of NA, yet wasn't sure where they stood with production. At this point I'll wait on NA for Shockwave.
