I really like this kit but im unsure if to get Zeus Toys ZS-01 Oversized Studio Series SS-56 Shockwave or this kit for my SS. Is there somewhere I could buy the zeus toy one safely?

Evidently, they’re from SS ROTF Megatron. Not really a dealbreaker for me, however. Besides, maybe DNA Design is already brainstorming a thigh replacement kit as we speak.

Forgot about that. Maybe they thought changing out the pieces was easier said than done. Has anyone tried taking out the rubbery foot spikes?

Damn, the kit is 25 bucks on BBTS. Don't know how I feel about that. I guess it uses more plastic than I thought.

 

Dude, there's two whole new arms minus the shoulders on there, in addition to the sword, and a cannon that moves when you move the thumb on the gun-arm. Of course its $25.00.

 

Now make some replacement foot spikes to boot and I'll buy those too! Death to all soft rubber on SS Shockwave!!!!

I too am wondering when this will see release. I'm seeing the ER Scorponok kits might be coming out before this? Anyone have any news or idea?

 

For anyone not used to DNA Design:

1) Their time estimates are never correct.

2) They have massive delays, typically several months.

Also, they skipped multiple kits to get SS Devastator kit next out the door, including this Shockwave kit.

 

There's also the matter of that pesky little pandemic the whole world has been dealing with.

The current TF Source estimate is for June.

DNA Design has been doing this behavior well before the pandemic. It’s not new for them.

 

Of course they have, but that's an additional factor. I expect delays on EVERYTHING right now.

Of course, doesn't explain at all how the much larger SS Devastator and Scorponok kits got bumped up for earlier release.

 

...just now getting to them?? I agree with you, here. I get the pandemic, but bumping another kit in the place of this one and blaming it on the pandemic? ...kay.
My guess is they knew these sets won't sell like gangbusters (Shockwave's will, Convoy's probably will not) and they wanted a sure thing, so the Devastator set hit first. I get it, I do, but the explanation leave s lot to be desired. A simple "Hey, these are on the way!" would've been sufficient and sensible.

 

They might rotate factories, and this one was hit with something while the other one wasn't. Who knows, just happy they are coming still.

 

Just preordered this a couple weeks ago. Upgrade kits are the best thing to breathe new life into a figure that otherwise might be forgotten by me. I didn't feel a need for this one but I love the posable fingers and I have missed out on DNA kits enough in the past then wanted them later so I'm at the point where I pretty much preorder any kits they make for figures I have.

It would be great if they actually released this damn set though! Seems like they're focusing on re-releasing a lot of older kits too which is great. I preordered the SS Ironhide and SS damaged rotf Megatron kits as well and I just got my hands on the jetpower kit which I'm loving!

 

Sounds like they had issues with the factory with this one and one other, but that they're on track now, so hopefully should see a release soon.
