So the MP G1 releases this year look to be:
    V2 Starscream
    V2 Thundercracker
    Skids
    Reboost

    MPM: Another Optimus and Bee

BW: Umm, is this their 2018?

I’m honestly surprised we still haven’t seen Blaster. They must have don’t a total 180 on whatever work had already been done. Combo of changing line aesthetics and some design problems would be my guess.

That Steeljaw repaint was to date the biggest fake-out we ever had in this series. I agree with the notion that they must have abandoned what they had planned with Blaster. I'm sure we will probably never know but I think the redesign must have been significant. I'm thinking MP-10 compared to MP-44 type of differences. The timing is curious because if I am remembering correct they came out around 2017. That would have been around the time of the reboot for the line, toward the more toon aesthetic. They probably knew at that point that Soundwave would have to be redone in the near future. I totally believe that their announcements will not be fair apart from each other, and that includes their tapes.

To me, I could take or leave these two. They weren’t really memorable on the show if I recall, but then neither was Skids. It would be cool for other people to get them for sure.

I believe both are due next year Soundwave being a march 2022 release since shockwave came out march 2016 and megatron came out march 2017, and as for blaster I'd imagine a late 2022 release, and the cassettbots and trons would probably be spread out throughout 2022 and 2023.

Normally I would say Blaster before Soundwave v2.The Jetfire announcenent kind of blew things up, so I wouldnt be surprised if instead of prioritizing those 2 they go with Percy and Blitwing. Jetfire has me thinking after the SS86 dinobots are out they'll turn some attention to them MP-wise. I wouldnt be surprised the real reason the mp designers worked on mainline stuff this year was ground work for future MP development.

I find the idea of a Rodimus similar to the Kingdom one interesting, where his trailer is actually functional and can hold a carbot as well as the integrated mobile turret. Also like the idea of his cab being a "muscle car "Hot Rod on steroids.

Thats and extremely jammed packed release schedule. Remember we still have to fit Jetfire in there somewhere, and probably Raiden. I'm not saying it won't/can't be done, but that is an awfully lot of larger sized MP's all in 12 months.

Unless Jet/Skyfire isn’t slated to come out until 2023. I think a v2 Soundwave is coming sooner than we think, but that’s just my hunch. Nothing official to base that on.

Yeah we haven't seen any design sketches as of yet for Jetfire. I'm really wondering what is going to be inside the Generations book now, especially in term of the interviews that do sometimes. Hopefully we get a pretty good info dump.

It's crazy because 6 months ago I really didn't think V2 Soundwave wouldn't have been out for a few more years (5+). And now I am interested to see how and what they are going to do differently than V1, and the possibility that we will get an answer to that in the next few months.

I'm confident it's happening next year especially due to the 2020 mp drought, and the fact that most of this year's releases are repaints, it only makes sense to have an explosion of mps next year.

That Kingdom Tracks rules out any 2.0. rumors (and i'm okay with that, anyway i don't think that there will be X.0. for anything but OptimusMegatronStarscreamBumblebeeSoundwave)

Edit: I'm considering the MP10 the reboot for the line, Grimlock will be a 1.0 again (like the MP10 should be, but anyway, my headcanon)

Why do you think it rules out a 2.0? Not saying it doesn't, but interested to know why you think it does

Thinking about transformation, it doesn't really make say "ok, this is a gamechanger, could be used in a new masterpiece".

For example, i believe that most of the S3 in Kingdom/ Studio series could be used as a starting point for the masterpiece versions.

See what you mean. I think Tracks just need polishing up and little else, rather than something seismic like how SS86 Hot Rod could inform an new MP version, etc.

I don't have Tracks, been waiting for the v2 if it came, but I might be tempted to grab the KO because of the improvements it made. At least then I wouldn't feel horrendous chucking it for any v2 that did come out. Hmmm....

Okay here’s some G1 mp speculation for ya...with the announcement of mp Skids, I realized that these four are the only 84/85 carbots left that I’ll be using 3p placeholders for:
    54ED7735-3265-4CFB-B0DC-C6135AE84A0D.jpeg

I speculate that we’ll have at least 2 of them by the end of 2023.

Also, I don’t really believe the Skyfire rumour but if it is true, I believe it will NOT be released the same year as Raiden. This because a 16’ Autobot will steal the thunder from a combiner that stands a measly 18’ (or perhaps even less).

I’ll gladly take any of those 4(maybe not Hoist) over Skyfire and Raiden. Skyfire will get me divorced at masterpiece prices. And I didn’t even know who Raiden was until this thread started talking about him

I don't think so, Raiden is the belle of the ball barring Galvatron or Ginrai. Right now Skyfire is going to have wow people, as a lot of them believe it doesn't get better than Seige and his size allows him to be a decent enough fill-in. Raiden will be the first MP combiner, of a JP G1 figure who is hard to find complete and in good condition andappeals to a secondary market(train collectors). I don't think Skyfire will be as big as Phoenix either, size is a real concern when you're dealing with collectors who really don't have much space. I think it's part of the reason the seekers are mall exclusives, raiden is UW size and there won't be a skittle pack of Skids, people have to have space for all this stuff, much harder when you live in a one bedroom apartment or a room in your parent's house. There are people who will literally have to pick only their favorite seekers only because they don't have room for all 3 or 6.
