Very curious how they'll price these guys. They're so similar to the old Hasui-era car bots, but design and accessory wise.
If Skids can be had for less than 7,000 yen I might bite, even though I don't care about the character.
I do miss the days when MP car bots cost me 4,000~5,000 yen.

It's cool that Reboost is gonna come with a human figure to go along with his Motocompo. Should be a lot of fun!

 

So are they the same price? Or we don't know yet? You'd think Reboost would be more expensive, with his extra accessories, but I wonder if they'll cost the same.

 

Probably will be like the last plus Smokescreen was 9450 yen, probably 10000 yen for this before discount because it's a new mold.

I guess this works only because its Skids, dont think anyone would be happy if a more popular character came with so few accessories/lack of faces. It'll be interesting to see how this works out, of course there will be people happy he's so much cheaper, but then there will be people who will be disappointed, because this will feel like a release they penny pinched just to make it cheaper.

 

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. If MSRP is indeed around 10,000 then he would end up below 7,000 in stores/online.

 

But probably Reboost cause of his slightly higher accessory count. Although we just saw the new Thundercracker costs more than Skywarp even though he has less accessories. So, ambiguous I suppose.

 

Thundercracker and Skywarp are actually the same price. They're both 27,500 yen.
I agree Reboost will probably be priced a bit higher than Skids.

 

On certain sites it’s listing them different. But yeah as it stands they’ll probably make Reboost a bit more.

 

Any price differences from non-Japanese vendors are likely due to the current exchange rates being quite good.
MSRP for both figures is the exact same  

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Reboost is priced the same as Skids despite the more accessories. It might be a marketing move to help sell the new character.

 

I get that Skids is part of the original crew, but as a character he was a non-entity. He appeared in 2 episodes as memory recalls and one he was scrapped. IMHO his robot mode leaves something to be desired, especially with his arm placement. This is one of the few times I am glad that Takara took some liberties with the design. I like how he turned out, but as for extra faces I don't really know what Takara could have done here when his only speaking line in robot mode was "robotic insecticide?". Although I would have liked for them to include blast effects.

 

am I missing something? His headlights in car mode are still yellow and we can’t see the headlights in robot mode because the text obscures them

 

Never mind. On my pc they appeared clear. But looking on my phone I can see that they're indeed yellow.

Reboost only has a tiny few additional accessories, so it'd only be a $5-10 difference or something anyway. So I could see them just eating the cost (and/or pushing up Skids' cost to match, however you want to see it).

 

No extra faces, no effect parts... That's a bummer, especially the faces.  

Still looking forward to Skids. Going to be a good year with him and the three Seekers being released.  

 

Yeah, I feel ya, brother. Definitely a punch to the gut if you ask me, though since he's moreso toy-focused, i'm not super surprised.

Definitely not a dealbreaker though, gonna still be pre-ordering Skids and Reboost pretty much on the spot, haha.

@Snaku As the first person I think of when it comes to creating some extra faces for MPs (still waiting on more Legends manga Arcee stuff gimme gimme gimme  ), you picking up Skids as well by any chance? Would love to see if you did something like this somehow for him! Though specifics on how it'd have to be done of course seem to be coming with time.

 

Shouldn't Skids be the one coming with a human seeing as he dated one in the Marvel comics.
