Pricing for hastak vs 3P are very much apples to oranges. Hastak can make 30,000+ of a figure, so the $30,000 in tooling cost is only $1 per figure. They have a ton of overhead, but you can still charge $15-$25 and make a profit.

3P legends have a lot more parts, but even if it was the same $30k in tooling (it’s more), they only sell 1,000-5,000 per figure. So tooling costs between $6 and $30 (at least). Then add in the plastic, paint, packaging, and assembly costs, and there really is no comparison.

 

I can't recall is he a season 2/3 bot or did he make an appearance in season 1?

I'm not defending Has/Tak, exactly, nor am I tearing down 3rd party, I just want fans to understand that parts count is a big part of the reason prices are the way they are regardless of the manufacturer.

 

Looking good. As per usual MS skew a little 'chunkier' than I'd prefer, but NewAge go the other way so I have to select between the two based on my preferred proportions for each character... Perceptor is a slimmer bot in my mind's eye. How long before we see the NewAge version I wonder?

I just was watching the stop animation and noticed that he can shift into a semblance of the tank mode. Not likely, but it would be neat if they could retool him into Impactor as well.

Both have similar body type, shoulder cannon and pseudo tank mode. It’d take significant retooling, but might be feasible. Not likely to happen, but after Newage’s Straxus, I want more characters retooled.

 

I take it this is slightly mistransformed? Anyone who actually uses a microscope knows that the light mirror needs to be below the examination plate to light it up. It looks like it is at least engineered that way. I am very happy that it has the treads for the alternate tank mode.
