    Yes!
Wave 3 and is going to hammer my wallet.

Watching the ‘86 movie. The aiming of the Autobots on the shuttle is appalling; didn’t hit one Deceptigoon. Deserved what they got.

Tbh Brawn deserved what he got for charging head on at Megatron, and Starscream..might be a tough cookie but not THAT tough. At least the others held out a bit longer, but yeah pure trauma.

That may not be so much distribution in the logistical sense but rather that they didn't set retailers alight as a priceband to stock either, and thus the suppliers and stores that got them in were fewer, and increasingly fewer. There were barely any retailer bothering with Legends by the time they got dropped for Micromasters in Siege (Smyths pretty much never stocked 'em since CW IIRC, at least my locals never got 'em in). IIRC Kapow were among those that had actually dropped them pretty much by tail-end of TR, and only revived stocking them in POTP as the Battletrap Duo offered a bit extra nostalgia pull potential?
They did totally fumble it if it was a Minicon Test though, I really believe they very much underestimated how much of a turn-off uncompletable teams would be in their pursuit of hitting the budget levels.

Yes, Brawn was very irresponsible. Absolute muppet.

Others failed to utilise cover. Quite liked them all, too. Prowl’s death was brutal.

Repacks to me only make sense, possibly, in Hasbro terms. Though I've no doubt the hardcore would buy a repack again for the Kingdom box and/or collector card, or just to say they own the whole line.

For Hasbro I'd guess it enables a spreadsheet column that's almost pure profit since the molds already exist and indeed had maybe just been used making a rerun of Exhaust or something.

Maybe it lets them move releases around. But it's gotta suck as a retailer when you've finally sold your last Earthrise Arcee at discount only to get more.

In an ideal world my compromise would be filling the slots with former store exclusives.

Prowls death is still my favourite death in all Transformers media I think, at least in terms of face value. It’s very creative having him melt from the inside. I can only imagine the cries and gasps of kids and adults alike in the cinemas in 1986.

Oh, I agree. Unfortunately Hasbro just see it as a vehicle for selling toys. IDW had a surprising amount of freedom when G1 was seen as a bit of a nostalgia trip, but when they decided to make it more active, the writing was on the wall. IDW 1.0 had very little marketing value in keeping it running, and I imagine phrases like 'diluting the brand' were bouncing around Rhode Island.

I think different, distinct continuities will end up becoming the norm in superhero universes at some point - like you said, DC are already heading there. The problem with it is losing the continuity appeal that keeps some of the lower selling books alive, as well taking up more space in a limited pool that will reduce the number of non-big name books too. There's a good chance that we'll see ten different Batmen with very little else...

Although I saw the movie in the cinema, prowl and most of the other deaths didn't really register with me, I still remember Prime's death (although my memory is badly corrupted by subsequent viewings and commentary). Although Prowl himself had a cool toy, he wasn't in the cartoon much so didn't really impact despite being brutal. At least you get to see his death unlike wheeljack who is just lying on the floor.

    For me the questions are:
    • Were more of the figure done in the first place and then just packaged up later or was it done specifically later?
    • How was the decision made to repack that particular figure?
    • What is the cost difference per figure to do a repaint rather than just a re-run?

I think the thing with repacks is just as simple as that they need an Optimus Prime and a Starscream on shelves constantly as a sure bet to both buyers and retailers if they're ever gonna get Doubledealer and Huffer out there too, and they don't necessarily need it to be a new version of either any more with the ones they have. What I'd do for a new Voyager F-15 with wrist articulation though. Starscream is supposed to be the biggest hand-wringer out there!

Also, Brawn does get the muppet award mainly for sack-of-potatoing it after one blast to the shoulder. The shoulder! Ironhide wouldn't jump ship from the mortal coil until his head was shards and pink goo, and this supposedly tough guy who calls himself Brawn gave up and what, let himself bleed out after that? Shameful display.

Doesn't Brawn go down in a similar fashion in the Bumblebee movie? What a chump.

Cheeky Easter egg that one, although they gave the piss poor death to Cliffjumper instead. I’m still salty about it.

Although Blitzwing was a waste too. Should have been a generic or Ramjet.

I thought so too until someone pointed out that when he gets shot "in the shoulder" he's shot from a higher angle of attack whilst leaning forward in a run, and the "exit wound" shown is pretty much the entirety of his upper back, he actually gets shot through the shoulder, in the chest and out the upper back.

I'd say there's definitely an element of that but Wheeljack got a regular release, a restock, rereleased in Netflix deco and is now getting another caning. That's a bit mad.

She is a lovely lady indeed, she was my first 3P figure you know :)

Maybe some Squadrons will Strike like Phantoms too?

I wonder if we ever do get BW Inferno if they'll call him Predacon Inferno or something? What did they do with Beast Megatron? What's he actually called on his bio?

Also would be seriously tempted to get Shadow Panther to use as Special Agent Ravage :D

I mean, 'Blitzwing' is never actually named on screen - in fact, only a few characters ARE: Bumblebee (of course), Optimus, Ravage, Cliffjumper and... that might be it actually - yep the main villains Shatter and Dropkick never actually are mentioned by name.
They could totally retcon 'Blitzwing' to be a Generic or Ramjet or whoever, especially if they later decide they want to have triple changing Blitzwing actually appear.

In fairness to Brawn, having a hole blown in you that big by a Megatron-gun would probably do you in regardless of where it went. It just stands out compared to how much killing the rest of them needed. Prowl had his insides burned out, Ratchet took about nine blasts of the same size, and Ironhide? Yowza.

While we're at it, it was pretty harsh Wheeljack never even got a moment. He was so loveable, and the first time you see him in the Movie he's a carcass. I always pictured him with all the confidence in the world wheeled out some new quirky invention that went explodo and left him and Windcharger out in the open, and boy, do you ever know what happened next.

That’s Brawn’s comeuppance for being so foolhardy. What happens down the line really all comes back to him.

    With you on Wheeljack.

On another note; Sunstreaker can teleport through space.
