I'm guessing you haven't read any of the other posts in this thread discussing that this was likely a QC reject that used the wrong head instead of the alternate, grimacing head leaked earlier?
You guessed right. I meant a totally new head sculpt that is not shared with Megatron and I saw the grimacing one and it doesn't cut it.
But, but, PrimevsPrime said he gets all of his figures, legitimately, even though: - he hasn't disclosed that he's an official partner to Hastak, nor stated that his video(s) are "sponsored content" as per YouTube's rules. - he gets many toys before most other long-standing TF reviewers (some of which have longer and more established relationships with Hastak). - he gets Japanese exclusive toys before TF-reviewing YouTubers and customers in Japan. But OF COURSE, if PVP says he's legit, he MUST be legit... Anyway, I'm looking forward to this figure, even if I have to add some extra paint details to it later on. I really hope we can get some recoloured dino robots to make as many other "Neo-Dinobots" as possible. As they original versions were basically recolours, I've no problems with other recolours being used for updated versions.
Given the heavy amount of new tooling that the Collaborative figures typically get, I really doubt Rexy will have the same head as Megatron, just with a different expression.
Why? His head is the same as Megatron's, you change the head and you change the character. That's like saying Thundercracker and Skywarp should have different heads from Starscream
Those are different faces, the poster I quoted wants an entirely different head, they specifically said that the alternate face tooling wasn't enough for them and that they wanted a head that didn't share tooling with Megatron's despite the fact that it should share tooling with Megatron's
I mean, he had the mutant mask while Megatron's fictional appearances omitted it. So either a head with giant bat wings or a head modeled after the mutant head would be more accurate. Not that I care, the figure just looks really unappealing to me and I'm not positive why.
Probably the large swaths of plastic grey without much to break it up paint-wise. He looks like a naked Transformer with only sleeves, a helmet and boots on.
As I've said elsewhere the mutant mask is always how I displayed my T-Wrecks. I would be much more likely to get this if they had used that instead.
Too bad there was never an anvil Botbot. I mean Megs has Quackles, I could totally see T-Wrecks with like 4-5 little Anvil buds always trying(in vain) to keep him in line.
Oh, sorry, I couldn't see their original post as I've blocked them (probably for similar posts to the one you replied to). I'm not sure that they were THAT big. Regardless, would it be possible for a 3P helmet to fit over the head and also fit in the space for the head in beast mode?
I think Megatron should have a face sculpt that is totally unique to him. I never knew this character existed. I guess when they originally made him they should have given him a different head, but then again its Transformers and there are tons or repaints. I think since Megatron is such a main character (obviously) he should not look like anybody else or no other character. A new face sculpt when they created this character would have made him more unique and more individual. I know Thundercracker and Skywarp and Starscream all have the same head and Optimus and Ultra Magnus too but perhaps that is something that should change in the Transformers brand. I am also aware that these are robots and that they might be mass produced. Also, if Megatron is supposed to be menacing and there is another version of him with the same face it kind of makes him less menacing. Thanks for the replies and have a great week.
Well there's no Masterpiece because I don't think he ever had a proper release in Japan. The stuff released in that time by Takara from Beast Machines was few and far between, most of the line never made it over there. Also straight repaints is all Hasbro used to do back in the day, so there was no new head sculpt. He did have the "mutant head" and most of us it seems just had him sport that look as his default appearance, but unfortunately this version won't have that. (I like to think maybe he would do that because he was also bothered and ashamed that the Oracle formatted him into a body that shared an appearance with such a despicable monster such as Megatron.)
