Star Crystal (1986) on youtube: ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES I'VE EVER HAD THE DISPLEASURE OF WATCHING! i saw this pile of vomit and shit when i was 11 on video and i thought it blew. Watching it again, it hurt to watch it again as it still sucks. The film is in my view the worst movie of 1986! this Sci-fi horror movie from writer-director Lance Lindsay is a miserable experience of a movie.

The actors in this movie seem amateurish as their performances and line deliveries are wretched! some of the setting is ok for the budget as i seen better low budget sci-fi movies with production values than this. The monster is a pathetic looking slug who isn't scary and talks like it's some old hag who smoked alot of cigarettes, the cover of the poster fools you as the monster looks nothing like on the misleading poster. I do admit some of the make up effects when the creature kills some humans are kind of nice but that doesn't save this movie as the kills are pathetic.

The screenplay is beyond wretched and stupid, i know it wants to cash in on Alien and did came out in the same year as the superior 1986 Sci-fi horror film Aliens did. The characters are unlikable beyond belief, the pacing is poorly conceived and this is not only an Alien cash-in but also seems it wants to be E.T. all of a sudden, whoopie do.

After the alien kills some of the crew, it just reads an electronic bible and becomes A MORMON (or what Ramboraph4life said in his rant a "jehova's witness alien") OF A SUDDEN! WHAT THE HELL! i mean it tells the surviving crew members it's sorry it killed some of the crew as it did it in "self defense" (self defense MY ASS YOU KILLED THOSE FELLOWS AS YOU DESERVE TO DIE YOU WRETCHED UGLY SLIMEY EXTRATERRESTRIAL MURDERER ) and the humans suddenly befriend him, have dinner with him and all to wait before the humans can be rescued. I mean, you don't end an Alien-like movie like this? what the hell WERE YOU THINKING LANCE LINDSAY? No wonder he never wrote and directed anything again after this trash.

I saw this on video when i was 11 and always thought it sucked but after revisiting it in years it still blows . You are better off with Lily C.A.T., Leviathan, Event Horizon or even 1985's Creature than this truly awful pile of piss movie. AVOID IT! I wish sometimes MST3K riffed this crap. Star Crystal? more like "I'll give you Stars" Crystal, as in a punch in the face to you movie to give you stars for wasting my time.

    My rating: Zero stars

    Godzilla vs Kong - 8/10

I really enjoyed it, I would describe it as "controlled dumb", or a "smartly-made dumb movie". It's not going to challenge you or make you smarter, but it's smart in the sense that it knows to provide exactly what people want to see from a movie titled "Godzilla vs Kong". There are no pointless romance plots or Joe McAverageGuy trying to pass his exam. Pretty much everything human-related is directly related to the monster plot, which helps keep things focused and concise.

The movie really started to click with me when they went inside the hollow Earth. The visuals there were gorgeous, and really mind-blowing. Pretty much everything from that point on was great. Loved Kong's castle. Loved the final fight(s). The neon lights of the city gave a nice aesthetic, and I thought they did a good job with the action choreography. Went into this movie excited to see Godzilla, and I was more blown away by how they handed Kong. They did a good job humanizing him in this one. The way they teamed up to fight MechaGodzilla was a lot of fun.

My main complaint is that the first 30 - 40 minutes were very exposition heavy. A lot of jumping around to different places where characters rattle off technical details, then jumping to another location to rattle off more technical details. They had like 15 different locations. The cast may have also been a bit too large...that seems to be a problem a lot of these Kaiju movies have. And sadly I didn't really connect with any of them except the podcast guy (I wish Ken Watanabe's character was still around). It didn't help that I had a headache and there were annoying teenagers behind me talking constantly...the whole first act was kind of messing with my brain, it felt like a blur. Maybe I'd enjoy that stuff more on a rewatch where I'm able to focus on what was being said. But by the halfway point I was enjoying things a lot more.

If you're a Godzilla or Kong fan (or both), I think this is a must see. I consider myself a casual fan of these franchises and characters. I didn't really grow up with them, but I've been watching them since my early adulthood (2014 or so) and I've enjoyed most of what I've seen them in (both the classic and newer movies). As a casual fan, I'd give this a recommendation. It was worth the price of admission and provided great spectacle.

    Godzilla vs Kong 7/10

Eh, it was alright. Kinda boring, I still don't care about any of the characters. The Hong Kong fight was cool as sh*t, and Kong is awesome as always. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I didn't watch it half asleep...

Critters (1986): One of my favorite independent Sci-fi horror action movies since i saw it in theaters at age 5 and it's a fun Gremlins meets MIB kind of film about flesh-eating alien hairballs who escape from a prison asteroid to Earth to eat animals and humans alike plus 2 shapeshifting bounty hunters are on their trail to go after them. Billy Zane is in an early role in this and co-stars Scott Grimes, Dee Wallace Stone, Emmet Walsh, Terrence Mann and more. This movie was written before Gremlins in 1981 while Gremlins written in 1982 and i think both are equal movies. This has nice creature effects by the Chiodo Brothers and awesome transformation sequence of Ug the bounty hunter into Johnny Steel which was a jaw dropping moment that makes you go "How did they do that?". The movie even looks and sounds good on blu-ray in it's restoration and nice extras too. My rating 4 and a half.

Critters 2 The Main Course (1988): One of my favorite sequels and the best easter movie ever! i saw this in theaters when i was 7 and enjoyed it as much as the first. Yet i gotta say this is a sequel that surpasses the first movie due to more action, thrills, chills, intensity, good pacing, nice script, more effects and let's not forget Lee the bounty hunter whom i had a crush on when i was a kid as that transformation to playboy model was beyond hot and "she" was sexy as hell. The picture quality restoration looks fantastic on blu-ray and nice extras. My rating 4 and a half.

Godzilla Vs. Kong... wow...really? What movie were U guys watching? Literally everything the humans do in it is stupid. Hey, lets sail a bunch of ships with Kong on it and risk getting attacked by Godzilla.... But then when they get mostly killed... oh wait... lets fly him there. So....they couldnt have done that in the 1st place and saved a bunch of lives and whatnot? Plus...they mention they are sailing in a route that Godzilla doesnt use....and hopefully, they can avoid him...but then later on they can track his exact movements and know when he has changed direction? I cared about zero of the humans...ONLY about the Titans. Kong and Godzilla look good, not super realistic though, like an XBOX One game cutscene most of the time. There ARE some amazing visuals, despite this though. Fight scenes were pretty great. But, they literally dug a tunnel to China...and they use it to ship things from Florida...through the mantle, core, etc. of the Earth? And there is also a hollow earth w a jungle down there as well? LOL Talk about suspension of disbelief...For me, it is all too much. I ended up just having it play in the background and doing other things after a while. Just...too dumb... 5/10.

    GvK...9/10 for an entertaining movie
    ........10/10 for a kaiju movie

My criteria for this type of movie is very straight forward:

    i. I want to see big freaking kaijus. I don’t want to see a limb, finger that hints of a kaiju...I want to see the whole freaking beast.

ii. Big action sequences CLEARLY. Meaning no stuff like shaky cam, poor lighting, debris obstructing the action, no cutting to humans mid-fight etc.

iii. Minimum focus on humans. The humans should simply take us from point A to point B.

If there’s to be human character development...just focus on 1 or 2. This movie did it with the little girl and the guy from Team Kong.

iv. Proper setting of the stage for the two kaijus to butt heads. The movie was straight out of a B-movie monster flick but its fun and that’s the most important thing.

This movie was really a blast and brought me back to the Heisei G movies but at faster pace. A must watch for fans of the genre.

    Venom

This movie is still kind of trashy (like a turd in the wind) after a rewatch. Sony tried real hard to kickstart a Spider-Man universe with or without Spider-Man. No Spider-Man here means we’ve cut out the dynamic on how Eddie Brock and Peter Parker become enemies before maybe teaming up for a worse threat?

That aside, if it wasn’t for Tom Hardy acting bizarre this movie would be boring without his talents. Michelle Williams is a little out of her element here but she’s fine overall. And in a movie that is generic as this, the boyfriend being somewhat of a nice guy is actually a nice cliche dodge.

Riz Ahmed as Carlton Drake is such a miscast IMO. No offence but I couldn’t take the guy seriously so... Can’t wait for Woody Harrelson I guess? On another bright side, the Symbiote designs are great in this film. The CGI not so great for my eyes. :/

Another thing I felt would have helped is an R rating. This movie feels muted when stuff like Venom chomping on a human head happens. Like a lot of stuff revolving around Venom happens to be Marvel’s gruesome moments. The action is still fine for the most part; they do get creative whenever they can with Venom’s superpowers.

Oh yeah, I also want to mention that this movie has a slow start before Eddie finds Venom and even though they share good chemistry, I did feel character development was rushed like how Venom just likes Eddie and Earth in general. I mean they did throw in how he was a loser and I guess that makes for a good team up.

So most of the movie’s appeal is still on Tom Hardy alone. Had that not been the case, I could go with a 5 or a 4 so in the end I’ll give it an average score.

    6/10

in a world where the past year i was able to go to the movies just once to watch New Mutants , it felt so good sitting in a theatre again. Some may ask , why not watch at home ? BECAUSE ITS NOT THE FUCKING SAME ! Watching King fucking Kong and Godzilla beat the fuck out of eachother needs to be seen on a movie theatre screen. Not even my dads 70” tv can compete with that.

just watching the 2 duel out and with some of the other monsters it showed was just so badass especially in Hong Kong. To hell with plot or anything else that shit was just awesome. I missed the movies so much and being able to watch a movie like that was such a good time and a escape from reality I definitely needed.

    Godzilla vs Kong 5/10

Roughly 80% of the runtime is not for me. But those few minutes in the hollow earth were enough to even it out and make for an okay experience.

I think for some people the 3 or 4 action sequences were great...so they....give it a 9 or 10? Because the WHOLE movie to them is only composed of the action sequences. Then there are others, like you and me, who think hey action is great and all...but the remaining 80% of the movie was garbage....so we drop that score accordingly. I dunno...

I still don’t know why this movie gets hate. It’s possibly my favorite movie of the trilogy and near of the whole MCU. I like the Iron Patriot paint job, and the Mark 42 is one of my new favorite suits. It was throughly entertaining, and I was surprised that it was a little more violent what with the Air Force One blowing up and the whole Extremis thing.
But it had awesome action set pieces, like the dock. I’m okay with the Mandarin twist, actually, because I know that the actual Mandarin is in hiding.

I watched them pretty much back to back and view them as a continuous story. I'd rate them about 8/10. On the nose comedic horror with a self-awareness of the stupidity of the concept that really elevated the overall film. The characters are well motivated and developed, and their use of text for emphasis during some of the wilder plot-turns actually added to the overall humor. Some of the best coincidental death scenes ever put on film. Even the baddies have good character development.

These films hit way above their weight class. If you want comedic horror that not only flips the usual horror tropes on their heads but does it in a way that keeps the laughs coming, hit these up.

"Oh good. A cabin in the woods. Nobody ever dies in a cabin in the woods!"

So many great one liners, and one of the best final words moments of all time. "I ain't even mad, bro!"

Definitely rewatchable. If you've enjoyed Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil, these aren't *QUITE* that good, but damned close. They're a blast to watch, which is really something when it comes to Netflix original content.

Ralph Breaks the Internet 8/10 Thought it was a good movie with amazing animation. Made me laugh and had a bittersweet ending. I do not know if I am just a sucker for the meta Disney jokes but that was my favorite part of the movie. I think just seeing Disney allow themselves to me made fun of a bit was a bit refreshing since they are so protective of their image. Seeing all the Disney princesses with their voice actresses (those who are still alive of course) just goes that extra bit to show respect to the voice actor and actresses that make these roles. It is just nice to hear the right voice come out of their mouths and love the joke about Merida being from a different studio. Even them showing up at the end was funny and clever again in some meta way. The car chase for slaughter race was epic and was done better then how some live action street races are filmed with smoother cuts and edits. Not sure which one was better between this or one. One probably as a standalone movie is stronger but this has those inside jokes that made me laugh more. Both good movies though.

Godzilla vs Kong 4/10- Was looking forward to this like many but I guess two hours of monsters kicking ass is too complicated of a concept for filmmakers. Annoying, useless characters that add nothing to the movie and could've easily been left out. Especially the two kids and that Bernie dude. I would've given this a 10/10 if those three got killed.

Two hours of contextless monster fighting does not a movie make. However I wholeheartedly agree that the human based connective tissue was......awful. Like I enjoyed it, but hot damn did I probably intellectually check out when a person started talking.

Went in with low expectations, but did have a few laughs. Dumb plot. But it was nostalgic to see the 8bit games come to life. Very weak recommend.
