That's actually kind of funny.

Design wise for Super Robot lifeforms, be they are Transformers, Brave, or mecha musume. I like the high heels, they can be weapons. They don't have tarsal/metatarsal bones that will stress wearing them.

 

Eh this seems more generic, considering it's a model kit I don't see why they couldn't include parts based on the original design. Sadly a pass for me  

 

They have to stick to the price range.

Something I do wonder regarding the changes, might it be possible to leave off the extension pieces on the wings so you have the original obi design? They do seem separated.

 

Especially funny too because they're also wedge heels, and they're pretty great too.

 

This is what I'm wondering. Depends on how critical the wing stability is based on the "full" wing.

 

I'd be okay with that, actually. I kind of wanted to paint it up anyway.

I mean I'm mildly upset because I did prefer the older version and I am seriously considering 3d printing some upgrade pieces to take her back to the way she should've been - smaller butt, though, probably. Was kinda surprised looking at them side by side just how much butt she'd had. Someone made a Cardi B comment which seems pretty apt. I'm actually more irritated by the changes to her torso - it was so sleek and graceful looking before and now it's just kinda clunky looking. Not terrible by any means but comparing it to the earlier version, I find it to be far inferior.

As far as actually going through with the 3d printing, who knows if I'll get around to it. There's like a million projects I think about taking on and I end up actually doing a tiny number of them. I actually bought a second ER Arcee because my first one is still in pieces with a lot of the gaps and holes filled in with putty that needs sanding and painting and I wasn't sure if I'd ever get back to her but didn't want to not have an Arcee on my shelf.

 

Was her torso THAT different? I noticed they made it less human, which I appreciate, but it didn't seem like a night and day difference to me.


I'll say that I'm not against any sort of fan service or cheesecake, but I also believe there's a time and place for it, and personally, a mass retail model kit isn't really one of those times.

As someone who strongly preferred the original model and a amateur at this: If your 3D printing skills are at the level to replicate the original look do you take commissions?

 

I don't do commissions but I release everything I create. I just don't create very much. I'll have to wait until I have this in hand and decide if it's worth the effort.
