The intro for Shinkalion Z is out, very little in the way of teasers for other mechs but we do get a quick view of
the new Black Shinkalion which looks badass.

As a Japanese G1 fan, I gotta love exkaiser because it's the things I love about yuusha and masterforce/victory in one

Came across this YouTube video. Seems to be a guide to how to buy the new Da Garn for 160ish. If anyone is able to parse it, let me know but might be useful for some of you.

Seems to be a promotion with a Japanese payment service.

I’m likely passing on Dagarn in favor of Might Gaine later on, but if I could have bought it for $160 I’d definitely bite.

I’m in the same boat. Somehow I ended up with an all train robot display case and frankly need another one. So I’m going to break into this line with Might Gaine

Hmm. More partsforming than I expected.

Yeah, I'd already worked out the wheels came off but I was expecting each car to have one large chassis plate so you would just lift the body off leaving the wheels on the track still connected to each other.
The way they've done it is actually worse but probably easier to produce

whoa uhh so you just take off the wheels and have nowhere to put them back? Jeeze I love how these look and I am the train guy but honestly that’s enough to make me seriously consider cancelling my preorder. Might wait to get these until I can get more reports in hand.

Thanks for sharing! Hmm, I'm kind of bummed. They look neat, but not that much better than the Animation DXs in my mind. Since they don't really transform that much I think I might put that money instead towards a Moderoid and have a truly awesome looking bot.
The new ones look great! I'm just not that enthralled with any of them to purchase one I think. Maybe on sale I'd bite down the road.

Well, parts-forming is a Japanese tradition. I just wish the wheels and extra shell bits for the arms had someplace to go or do.

So while qe're on subject. I lost interest near the end of the previous line but found Shinkalion alfa x for relatively good price. Anyone have opinions on this set?

Alfa X is my favorite of the line honestly. What a way to go out. It’s got a premium paint job and gives you a near complete experience of the line’s gimmicks. And the leftover parts I always make into some sort of bug drone.

I find the instruction combination with the MK2 pretty silly, but it’s so easy to fan mode into something I like more.

Suitably rapid arrival from Japan. :D
    IMG_20210412_122719.jpg

Huge box, really, pet peeve of mine as it leads to higher shipping costs for us Gaijin but I understand why they do it, namely for shelf presence and wow factor in store.
The bonus item is a tiny little booklet, there's a Manga in there which looks like the battle from the end of the first episode of the new show and some info/ads for the show & the toys of course. Nothing we haven't seen previewed.

Much snipping later, there is a lot of parts all told, nearly all of which are tied down. Only the bogies escape this fate, being taped to the underside of the tray in baggies instead. I guess because these are standard parts that will be in every set of the line.

The stickers are really good, very strong adhesive, take your time with them. The trickiest ones are the small squarish ones on the Shinkalions arms as you can't get your fingers in there directly. The one on the abdomen is the only other tricky one.

Train mode is just gorgeous, that really nice minty green paint is very eye catching and the Yamanote train looks nice too with a metallic silver. The only obvious flaw here is the Yamanote train doesn't have a back piece, it's just open at the end. As you can see it's pretty big also, you're getting your money's worth here.

Which translates to the robot mode, it is bang on the same height as Studio Grimlock.
The transformation is easy but fun and both modes are very solid. The robot mode especially has locks or tabs for just about everything, even the feet have a snap to hold them in place for the bot mode.
    IMG_20210412_133122.jpg

Joints are nice and tight, most of them are detented friction joints, there are proper spring ratchets in the hips too.
The only joint that could use some work is sadly the ankles, they are a bit loose and it can fall but that could be adjusted with the usual nail varnish/floor polish etc.
    IMG_20210412_133411.jpg
    IMG_20210412_133402.jpg

The combination works really well, not too much force is required to swap the arms and the Zyliners arms are also very solid. Can hold that combined sword up in the air with no trouble.
The arms and legs have completely different connectors so they're not interchangeable.

    IMG_20210412_151444.jpg IMG_20210412_151138.jpg

The bad news of course is the elephant in the room, the parts graveyard. :/
    IMG_20210412_134158.jpg

You can mitigate this by part reassembling them and/or putting the connector less bogies into the middle carriage. The ones with connectors won't fit and it's impossible to get them all in there.

    IMG_20210412_150058.jpg

You can reconnect the arms to the back and even try to use them as sub arms, I haven't tried this yet though.

Overall I absolutely love it, it's big, it's very well made, both the transformation and combination are fun and require little thought.

I made a lot of hype for myself with these and usually I end up being disappointed by the toys that I obesses over but this one lived up to my own hype and I can't wait to see where this new line goes once they start getting into the more interesting designs like the Black Shinkalion, Dr Yellow and the Alfa-X as just discussed.

Finally, one unexpected bonus of owning these is that you can give your WfC figures working roller skates! :p

Balancing them is hard but if you get it right you really can roll them across a desk. Later I will try them on Sky Lynx.

Btw, I've taken quite a few pictures but TFW hates my phone so check back to this post later to see them.

Edit, all pictures uploaded now, finally.
    Enjoy! :D

Let me know if you come up with any fun fan-modes for the extra parts!
