Statues are killer and all but if it can't transform then it's a imposer.
    Transformers are meant to transform.

I found it really hard to get this pose and I still think it doesn't look quite right.

Just got Scourge and Grimlock in the mail. Ironically I just saw a few Grimlock at Walmart today. First time I actually see a figure from the SS86 in the wild.

Haven’t unboxed Grimlock yet. Man Scourge was kind of a pain. That part in spaceship, when going back to robot mode, when you have to open the whole middle in half and flip the wings...I was so scared to break it. So stiff. Amazing figure nonetheless.

I believe that's a common problem, actually. Doesn't seem to have too much of an effect though, so that's good.

As for this, this is... an April Fool's prank, I'm sorry. I'm working on a 3D-printable Percy (nowhere close to done, but I'm getting there), and I thought it might be a fun prank to show it as a "fake leak" of sorts. Here's the real image:

Here's hoping we see a real one soon!

Hehe, yeah, even though Hot Rod can assume a lot of poses many other CHUGs can't, spreading his arms out while they're raised that high up is something that's a lot easier on more "conventional" shoulder configurations. I couldn't quite match it myself:

    Hgggnnn... not quite...
    P10402-003158.jpg

-Ha ha, looks like I make a better you than you do, kid! Maybe I should've been the Chosen One...
    -Piss off, Buttswipe!
    P10402-003240.jpg

That being said, DerVernichter was never above abusing some transformation joints to squeeze out some sweet, sweet extra articulation! All you have to do is open Hot Rod's chest up and rotate the butterfly shoulder joint thingies so the side with the larger half of the pin faces forward:
    P10402-003416.jpg

...and voilá! Spread those wings, boi!
    P10402-010610.jpg

    I DID IT, MOM!!!
    P10402-011222.jpg

Funnily enough this mistransfor... I mean, configuration makes Hot Rod's shoulders sit higher, which gives me MP-09 vibes with how that toy's transformation form Rod to Prime involved slightly raising his shoulders. Kinda interesting alternative look for the youngster, like he's trying to look more buff than he actually is.

Ah, that sucks! Thankfully I've yet to break mine despite all my manhandling of the toy, though this might be sign to be a little more careful with the fiery fellow.

I had same problem with first Hot Rod I bought, I have since bought a second one. That part is brittle in general.

Just got my Nonnef set in for Grimlock. Fairly happy with how he looks with it on

Had the chance to start painting my print of Firetox's Grimlock sword. Pretty happy so far except that I probably should have done more sanding before paint. Still have to do the handle section.

I saw this elsewhere earlier and it's a terrible pic but looks legit enough. Kinda frustrating they couldn't turn Devcon's head around though, I guess he and the Sweep will have the same retooled head without facial hair.

It's getting hard to fit all the Ark crew into the light box. Which is definitely why Mirage is in invisibility mode. Honest, guv.

I picked up Blurr yesterday. I delayed ordering him initially as there were aspects of the design I wasn’t keen on in both modes. (Curiously the big chunky fold down bits on his forearms didn’t really bother me.)

In hand his robot form is very interesting and dynamic. His face, which still looks a bit weird to me (they made it look rather thin, even compared to how he looks on the box art) has a lot of character and has grown on me.

Transformation was mostly pleasant and easy. I thought the back part wouldn’t fix together properly. There’s a rectangular peg which is a very tight fit, and I had to use quite a bit of pressure. I thought I might have to trim a bit off (I still might) but I probably won’t be transforming him all that much. I also noticed that there is a step missing in the instructions. There is an extra thing you have to do with the arms. Basically you have to turn the forearms one way, then twist the hands (and attached folded vehicle bits) back the other way. It is very simple to work out though.

Hover-car form could be better. The overall design is nice enough, but it feels very unfinished at the front with that flat hollow nose. Interestingly, I think this is one of the few times where I found attaching the weapon to the vehicle mode was beneficial. It works for seekers, Jetfire and UltraMagnus, but you get the impression the weapons were tailored to fit with their alt-modes too. With car-bots, it often doesn’t look great, especially if it’s just a single rifle type weapon.

In Blurr’s case it works as it helps make the front look more substantial by filling in the hollow part under that front nose, and the other hook-welding thing accessory (which I initially thought a bit superfluous, although it’s nice enough to have included)* fitted behind aids this. The gun also give his vehicle nose a bit of a point, adding to the whole ‘speedy vehicle’ look. (Reminiscent of Cyclonus, but less elegant. ) The only thing that spoils the look is the gun handle poking out the side. It would have been nice if it could be folded in, or if the gun could have been fitted upside down using the post to connect to a circular port, rather than the sideways slot connection it has. A minor issue though.

I’m glad to have him. He’s a nice addition to the SS86 cast. I didn’t intend to buy them all... but that seems to be what I’ve done.  I wasn’t going to get Grimlock as I have the MP already, but I love the robot mode of SS86.... so I did. I wasn’t going to get Hotrod since I was waiting for Rodimus, and they’re kind of similar... but I did anyway. And now I have that blue guy with the skeletal face who was so annoying in the film and series 3. Help! :p

*As it looks similarly to Hotrod’s fold-out accessory, I’m guessing these are from an early repairs scene in the film. I vaguely remember something there...
