To be honest, I missed that game. I'll have to check it out now (I grew up as a Sega kid).

Look into The Messenger while you're at it. Though I would say that one is more Ninja Gaiden.

    The Last of Us 2

I'm pretty late but I got around to checking out this game. I didn't read into the leaks but I did have a general idea what was about to happen with all the complaining I hear. In all honesty, I think this game is better than the first. I was never a big fan of the original game. I mean it was decent but it wasn't a ground breaking story that everyone raves about. It was a pretty cliché plot. I prefer the combat on the 2nd game but it does feel like a Telltale-type game with action/stealth scenes mixed in it. I actually liked the game a lot more after I started playing as Abby because Ellie's portion of the game was a bit of a tedious slog and a bit boring.

    8/10

LUNAR 2; Eternal Blue (SONY PS1 Remake) perhaps a 7/10, largely due to the often-excellent soundtrack.
otherwise, a very plainly average 5/10 as a JRPG overall...

    Spiderman: Miles Morales 9/10
Every part of the gameplay is perfect. I have no issues with it. I also have no issue with the side missions, which are all really fun. Plus, they help build the sense that you are Harlem's hero. You are a part of the community, and you are always there for them.

The plot is also generally pretty good. I like all the characters (especially Miles, Aaron Davis, and Ganke), and the overall conflict is pretty engaging. I will say, The tinkerer's motivations are pretty lame, and as time goes on I liked the character less and less. But I really did enjoy the plot, and it's pretty cool how they show Mile's growth through unlocking new abilities and creating his signature suit.

Also, Simon Krieger (or whatever his name was) is a pretty good character. I feel like he would be less likable or interesting if it weren't for the amazing voice. The way the voice actor delivers most of his dialogue is chilling, and I also really enjoyed that.

oh, he's fine. After the intense opening, he heads to some place in Europe to be MJ's photographer for some daily bugle stuff. Once the game ends, he comes back to New York and calls you every once I awhile. I'm sure glad they didn't kill him, it wouldn't make much sense for this version of spidey

    God Of War (2018) 10/10

Never have I played a game so close to perfection. Every thing it does it does well enough that I don't have any real issues with it. It's story, it's gameplay, it's world and character design, it's all so incredibly good. And that intro...just wow. So good

The biggest issue with the game is the sequel will be on the mythical creature known as the PS5. I hope they step up production on those consoles. I can’t wait for Ragnarok.

    Dragon Quest XI: 9/10

FINALLY finished this, after 3 months and 140 hrs.
Non-spoiler comment: At 100 hours I was ready to proclaim this game around 9.5-9.7 and possibly a place in my personal top games ever. A weaker 3rd part, which seems almost unnecessary and undermines some of the character development, ended up knocking it down some. It’s still well worth a play, and it’s still up there with Final Fantasy VI & X and DQVIII as my favorite RPGs ever.

    On the pro side:
The game’s main strength is its characters. The main party are all likable, most have arcs and all have clear motivations to join you. There are multiple points that hit you in the feels. Also, out of the party of 8, 7 felt useful even up until the end, which is pretty impressive (for me, one fell out of regular use).

The world is memorable, filled with fun NPCs and locations. There were some locations that made my jaw drop. Towns can be huge and intimidating when you first enter. Enemies are surprisingly varied, with clever names and animations that give them a lot of personality. There’s an absolute shit-ton of content.

    Cons:
The story is pretty basic, though I’ve come to the conclusion that in this game, the story is secondary to the characters and the world, which is fine. Similarly, the main baddies are pretty generic, mean dudes who want to want to take over the world...because reasons.

The game does tend to be on the easy side, at least until the third act. Your party members learn a whole bunch of abilities and spells, but I only found a handful of them useful. There are many I never used at all.

I’ve seen the music widely criticized as one of Sugiyama-san’s weakest. Since I played with the orchestral soundtrack, I mostly didn’t have to deal with the MIDI score and I personally liked most of the music, though the main overworld theme is just OK and loops too quickly.

Spoilers for the main story thing that irritated me:
In the second act, there’s a lot of emotional development that brings you closer to the characters. The world is in ruins, one party member sacrifices herself so the rest can barely survive, then you have to get everyone back together to finally defeat the bad guy. Also, there are personal quests you can undertake which bring you closer to the characters. This is where the game really shines.

The biggest moment for me was Serena’s growth. Up until then she was the most boring character; nice, wholesome, nondescript. Then you find out later she was MEANT to act that way, with her more aggressive sister always taking the lead and Serena just going with the flow. With her sister gone, she’s forced to act for both of them, taking on her sister’s abilities and becoming stronger than she ever thought possible. It’s really powerful.

What upsets me is that, because of the third act time-travel, all of this development is wiped away, and she’s back to being meek. I mean, it gives you a glimpse of her true potential, but SHE doesn’t know it after the timeline is changed.

All of these moments are gone thanks to the time travel. It feels like there’s no point to doing any of it because it’s all wiped away anyway. IMO, I think the game should have ended with the second act, just make it more difficult. Then it would have been perfect. Let Veronica stay dead, but everything seems to mean more.

My buddy beat Chrono Trigger with me along for the ride. I'd give it a 9/10, amazing game. I think he felt a little frustrated with the speed of the game and active battle system, but he still really enjoyed!

Haha I know right. It's not like the first one had a great story. I think people are getting used to having cliche happy endings or MCU type redemption stories.

    Fallout: New Vegas 9/10

So I know I've said that I generally don't like playing these games, but still. I tried playing this game again, and something just kinda clicked in my brain. And suddenly I had a blast with it.

Anyways, the writing in this game is...amazing, to say the least. And it really shows how f*cking awful Bethesda's games are.

Depends on the story being told; at best in a setting like Last of Us I would expected bittersweet, with a heavy lean towards bitter. In the movie starring magic space Vikings, rage monster scientists, raccoon and tree space pirates etc I feel were better served with a pretty straight forward victory. Hard won, but straight forward.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds Nintendo Switch version 1/10

The nice part is the way the Superstars look. Exaggerated but funny.
Sound: hearing Michael Cole commentating is always nice but slow to describe what the action is in the ring.
The Superstars' theme music. Sounds great either in handheld or TV mode. Even if they only last for 20 seconds.
Easy to learn how to play.
Lots of current wrestlers like Braun Strowman and legendary wrestlers like Andre the Giant.

    Bad part: everything else.

Even though it's easy to learn, the tutorial doesn't give full details on performing some moves.

Lack of other options of gameplay.

The campaign starts well but once you hit chapter 2, the games goes from easy to screw you, crank the cpu to cheap as hell mode. The counter signal appears for a second and you are screwed if you don't hit it in time or hit the wrong button. Unlike No Mercy on N64 where the block button is also the counter button.

The cpu has no problems countering you but as I faced Jake "The Snake" Roberts on a 1-on-1 match, he used his special attack continuously while you can only use it twice until your meter fills up again.

In other game modes, you can adjust the difficulty but not on campaign.

The worst thing is the micro transactions. You don't have to use real money to get golden bucks but getting the battle bucks is a chore. On average you earn 240 to 350 on other game modes with a 1000 as rewards during campaign and daily challenges which are easy to do but the DC only changes once a week and you have to be connected to the game servers to get anything.

If you play then go to standby mode and come back later, you'll be disconnected and earn nothing. The only wait to reconnect is to close the game and re-enter.

You unlock other wrestlers with battle or golden bucks but like I said the battle bucks are a chore to earn and who wants to use micro transactions? Absolutely no one.

Wrestlers cost 3000 to 12000 to unlock with alternate costumes costing 2000 to 6000. The campaign says things like YOU UNLOCKED JOHN CENA! Bullcrap! You have the option to purchase him for 12000.

I was disappointed by this game because i wanted to play a current WWE game but this wasn't it. Neither was WWE 2K20. Not even wrestling fans would like this game.

    An easy skip.

It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years, and while I found the story a bit lackluster the core gameplay is executed extremely well.
