Guilty. The pallets were on the floor, and I looked around for about 5-minutes for an employee before grabbing it.
Got a cardboard cut for my efforts.

It’s usually paper/cardboard cuts that hurt worse than ghastlier gashes, oddly enough.

    Not really odd.
With ghastlier gashes, you usually go into shock first.
By the time that wears off, someone has probably doped you up and there's no feeling at all.
    Doctor?
    Bartender?

There are more nerve endings on the surface layers of skin, which is why small cuts hurt.

The GameStop at the Oxford Valley Mall has X-panse crossover for $65. I didn’t grab it because I have it pre-ordered on Hasbro Pulse.

Excellent, thanks guys! But honestly, I really just wanted a reason to say ghastly gashes. Sounds like a great band name. Like an all female band playing Misfits songs or something.:lol

I'd been hearing that the rail yards were restricting frieght due to a back up on the west coast. I know alot of freight still travels coast to coast via the rails is that maybe why we haven't been getting some stuff and maybe Walmart prioritized less high shrink stores?

That's probably part of it, but not the main cause. I was reading an article about Walmart this morning and a gentleman who works in the industry gave a rather scathing assessment of Walmart and how they've handled themselves during this time.

Of the things he saw/commented on:

-Unworked pallets, piles of boxes of stock (a family member confirmed)
-Empty meat cases, empty shelves (same)
    -Lack of employees (same)
-Lack of customer traffic (sort of confirmed, depends on the store/location)
-Pickers (curbside pickup people) getting stopped left and right to assist customers they're not working for, thus leaving the orders backed up time-wise and causing delays. (same)

Recommended more workers, more working the stock, and charging for curbside. (If Walmart and Target start charging for curbside like Costco does (since he referred to their model), you might as well close the doors. No one goes to Target and Walmart to pay for curbside service. I can't think of any store (at least around me) that doesn't offer the service for free. I think he's absolutely wrong in his assessment on this last point. It's a business killer.)

Walmart plans on having drive-thru mobile order pickup (I'm guessing they're moving the towers outside or refitting the pharmacy drive-thru or something along those lines) so people can self-service and not have to go into the store.

The one thing the pandemic has taught us (including businesses) is that we don't actually want to go into the store, we had to. Now, we don't have to, and we embrace it and love it. It's no extra charge, there's no chance for contamination or disease (which is important, right now and hopefully not in the future) and they could hire more workers and provide jobs specifically for this new system in the store. Ultimately, it all comes down to Walmart getting their act together and figuring out how to work with the public. Self-check was the first step, Walmart+ is another step, but they're so far away from where they need to be.

Also of note, I have a family member who works for Walmart and I asked him what's going on and he said it's a mix of policies, a change of structure, and a lack of workers. He said it's 50/50 that they actually have what you want. It's either truly not in stock, or it is but there's no one to work the pallets/trucks/shelves. The 3rd shift is supposed to unload, stock, and disinfect. They don't. They unload and disinfect and leave the stocking to the morning employees and if they don't feel like doing it or have other things to attend to, they'll just put the pallets back in storage and move on. Yet another day they don't have product on the shelves because those who are there don't want to work it, and they can't get others to do it. Pandemic protections have given the workers a bit too much leeway and they can cite Covid as the issue and they don't have to do their jobs. And they don't have to worry about repercussions. It's really quite sad. $14.00 and they can't get people to work.

A friend of mine spoke to the toys manager (now called team lead) and she was on vacation and while she was gone, they got in at least three MASSIVE pallets and not a single soul worked them during her absence. She ended up having to do all of that work herself on her first days back to work. The family member confirmed this happens ALL the time. There's so much stuff sitting in the backroom in some stores you can't physically navigate. So, when you ask someone to help you and they say they can't find it, they're not lying...it's buried in a field of cardboard boxes... Think the ending of Raiders Of The Lost Ark. It's getting that bad.

Part of the problem is they've condensed the departments. Toys, sporting goods, hardware are all one division, now, and only one person works all three. Another example is Lawn & Garden is now condensed with home goods/wares (such as vacuums, Keurigs, toasters), and holiday/cards. (So that one person, not a team, or people, has to cover an entire quarter/quadrant of the store.) If you happen to see people scanning tags and working shelves, they're not actually part of that department, they've been recalled from other areas of the store and aren't well-versed in what they're currently doing because they're out of their element. Most Walmarts are working on skeleton crews, right now. Looks like they're hustling and bustling, but they're not. People are actually staying home and avoiding others when possible and necessary.

Shopping has become like TV service... You want the best experience? You have to subscribe to all the different services to get it.

Agreed, I can attest, one local Walmart had the same pallets sitting in the main aisle for at least a week, completely untouched. I stopped checking it at that point because stock wasn’t moving.
That same Walmart’s main toy aisle looks extremely emaciated the last few times I was there.
