No worries. Oh actually the original toy matches the Marvel comic look too. A very stellar look indeed lol! I'm loving the look of new age comic Galvatron with grey/purple (not purple/grey).

What I'm waiting for is the TTM P-60 Galvatron to be announced! :p

It looks cool... I had Tyrant and sold it (didn't like it). I have Sovereign and like it a lot... but there's a part of me that is thinking "no more placeholders" and I'm still waiting to see what Takara some day does.

    I am tempted...

Yeah, they need to fix that arm cannon muzzle. It's too stubby like a baby carrot.

For robot mode I think they actually got the baby carrot correct, its the alt mode cannon that just doesn't work. Perhaps there is some transformation to it that could fix things or the use of another longer barrel. This reminds me of DX9 Mightron cannon issue.

Yeah, for the most part, the cannon to me looks pretty good. The only thing I wish XTB would do is narrow the end of the barrel a bit more (see below for a better visual) than it already is.

Wasn't that the teaser artwork that XTB placed on the box for their Glider/Powerglide several years ago?

Oh shit is it? Legit I just found the best Galvatron image I could find in an instant. That'd be an insane coincidence if it is, haha.

I'm pretty sure it is. That was like 6 or 7 years ago, if not longer. Man, I naively thought that XTB's Galvatron was right around the corner when I first saw that image back then. Boy was I way off.

ShowZ has Abaddon up for preorder.

His legs under knee are perfect same for helmet.
I could also consider this instead of DX9 Tyrant. Sovereign is still too expensive and Abaddon will surely have an easier transformation.
Tyrant great winning point is the stoic face, hope that also Abaddon version will have one more similar to him than Sovereign, and a season 3 crazy face could be very important for me to choose him over Tyrant. It's still too early of couse, but at the moment Abaddon is my Galvatron.

I have to admit, I'm a bit torn the more I look at this figure. Like, with Sovereign, I find his robot mode to be one of the single most beautiful things I own. Yet with his alt mode I can't help but be reminded of the cataquacks from Super Mario Sunshine whenever I see it from a non-profile viewpoint. Making the unmodified arms become the cannon legs was a bad design choice.

Meanwhile when I look at Abaddon, I see a cool looking robot mode but it doesn't hit me with that same amazing vibe that Sovereign does. But the alt mode is sooo much better.

Yeah, I agree with that and bonus points for the Super Mario Sunshine reference. Sovereign is a very nice figure but man that alt mode has aged badly. Even Hasbro handled the treads much better on both of their mainline version.

I’m watching this one with some interest. I already have two versions of Sovereign and DX9 Tyrant, but there’s always room for one more if it’s worthwhile.

Length of the arm cannon aside, XTB seems to have done another good job of mimicking the cartoon with the shape of the limbs. It may be a little unfair to FT from these photos, but looking at the calf area at the top of the "boot" the FT version has a bunch of blocky pieces that come together in a squarish leg shape fashion. Good, but when looking at XTB it seems like Keith has managed to get the lower legs to look like the animated versions where the artist could just ignore the alt mode and draw stuff to look more human.

I'd compare it to MP-10 versus MP-44 or MP-11 to MP-52. I was thrilled with MP-10 and MP-11 as they looked really good compared to the original G1 toys. But then I saw MP-44 and MP-52 and how much more they looked like the bots walked out of the cartoon. Each version has its fans so I'm sure many will keep Sovereign and skip Abaddon.

Good points. I'm a toon-accuracy nut, so I'm probably gonna end up with Abaddon on my shelf in the end, provided XTB doesn't pull another Locke.

Good points. I'm sure Abaddon will destroy Sovereign in the articulation department too. That seems to be an area FT don't prioritise at all.

Aye, Sovvy is going to be hard to top, especially the M version (amazing figure). At first I thought Abaddon was too little too late but I'm starting to warm to the more toon accurate look.

It really need a longer cannon though, and for god's sake get rid of those hinges at the arms.

    LMAOOOO THOSE GODDAMN CATAQUACKS

But yeah, Abbadon certainly is in need of extra polish, though then again, he does look to still be in a somewhat early stage of production. So i'd imagine we'd see at least one major change made to Abbadon from now till release.

Not to mention, Sovereign is a hard bot to beat by any standard to begin with.

Members will be pulling cartoon images with Galvatron's arm cannon at all different lengths. The G1 cartoon isn't exactly consistent and that is one plus for the new Netflix animation where they're stuck with a CAD structure and shouldn't be able to change scales and proportions from shot to shot. XTB should really have two barrels with Abaddon to cater to all tastes.

But those shoulder hinges really do need to go. Sovereign wins the "shoulder wars" with ease. Just ugly hinges that are totally out of place. I'm sure XTB could come up with a fragile little plastic stem to connect the shoulders to the body. Hell, they've done it before.

I keep wondering if they were using a foreshortened shot from the cartoon as reference and taking it as literal and that's why the cannon barrel looks so ridiculous. Still a nonissue anyway, since this probably won't be real for another couple years yet.

If cannon is too short, Dr. Wu will make a longer one, can't make another shoulder without that ugly hinge though.
