Just a honest question, I know this has been debated a lot but I’m just wanting to see some real data.

Depends on the line. I keep all my MP boxes, and did so with SS. I did throw out my SS eventually though.

I like keeping the boxes that look nice.

If they either don't or I need the space, I'll throw them out.

I keep specific boxes, the majority are recycled.

I’ve been keeping them lately but probably gonna throw all of my mainline boxes away at some point. I like boxes, but If I continue buying figures and keep ALL of the boxes I’m going to end up running out of space

I generally toss 3rd party and mainline retail boxes. Only stuff I keep is Transformers Masterpiece or Soul of a Chogokin.

Here is a suggestion, cut off the art slabs on the side fold and glue them all on a posterboard to make a massive collage and trash the boxes.

As for me, I only keep the big and expensive boxes in my attic.

Keep my G1 stuff, MP stuff, 3P, and a few random ones that I like or add significant value. The rest I toss. I have kept the Selects boxes for now because they stack well and I don't have room to display them. Used to keep them all, but the game of tetris started taking up a significant portion of my room. Just doesn't seem feasible when you click the odometer to a number with 000 behind it (or at least I don't want a room dedicated to boxes).

Facing this same situation myself. I'm about to toss all of mine minus the full box art ones.

I've only kept 3 boxes: all 3 were exclusives (P/CP, Repugnus, Grotesque). Everything else gets trashed. Which I dislike, but only because of the artwork; I really wish they had kept doing the trading card idea.

I will say I absolutely love that Selects & Galactic Odyssey comes in the brown boxes; it makes it easier to just toss them, & also they make great boxes to store multiple figures and their accessories in.

My whole thing is like. What if this will become the new “vintage line” when we are all older idk just food for thought.

You can't think like that man. That takes 20-30 years to happen, and they will still never be as valuable as G1 will be at that time.

This train of thought will have you saddled with these boxes wherever you go for decades.

I'll be vintage before they are, and I have done something horribly wrong if my care/wellbeing is relying on hauking my Transformers at that point.

Up until 2017 I had kept everything since I became a fan in 2006. But I ended up throwing everything out to save space, and because I didn't really need them. I kind of wish I kept a couple that were important to me from childhood (like 2007 Deluxe Bumblebee), but at the end of the day I can find scans of the exact same thing online. And digital files take up less space than physical packaging does.

Keeping the boxes does a few things:
    1) Keeps the value of the figure
    2) Makes it more enticing to a potential buyer
    3) Gives you a place to safely store the figure when it is not on display
    4) Prevents you from buying too many figures with no place to store them

Fact of the matter is, though that without the box, the figure is harder to sell down the road if you so choose.

When I was buying Transformers during the A/E/C days, I never thought I would sell any of them. Well, here we are in 2021 and I'm letting go of a lot of my Energon and Universe figures. I at least kept the packaging so they look better up on eBay.

That being said, I *have* sold some without the box, but they sold for much less than the ones that do have the packaging.

Kept the studio series boxes because I like the whole collector look and numbering (even though im missing some numbers).
Also certain other boxes for figures that I feel display really cool boxed. I kept the box for my ROTF Long Haul since it reminded me of my childhood looking at toy aisles of stuff I can only wish to buy.
I also kept my HA Jazz box because I really like how HA figures are packaged.

I've kept all of my boxes from Studio Series, Masterpiece or whatever other line I got back in the day. Haven't thrown em out yet cuz many ppl have told me it adds to value. My other 2 only reason is firstly for now I need somewhere to store when not on my display shelf. Secondly I plan on relocating one day and then I'll decide if I want to keep em or not

I initially keep my boxes but always have the intent to throw them away once the novelty wears off. The only boxes I’ve really kept are the generation 1 reissues because I feel like those have a nice retro look to them.
