Do you or anyone here know what type of circular stands are that are being used? I've seen them in another thread as well but can't remember which one.

Edit: NM. It looks like it's the stand that comes with some of KFC's products, like Kingzilla.

Admittedly, there are times that my lack of appropriate OCD causes me to post photos with erroneous transformation.



Other times, there are concerms that become apparent during the transformation process that cause me to reconsider my approach, watch a different reviewer, and attempt it all over again.

With FT-44, there was no wayI was going to attempt transformation without watching EmGo. His 'JustTransformIt' videos are fantastic!! He is a true humanitarian putting these videos together for us!

It was true that his backpack-thrusters assembly was not tabbing together with the arm-thrusters.

Hence, why the back/engineer area of the train looks a bit 'gappy'.




And as close as they got, when I would try to connect that thin chestpiece... it really seemed to stress the thin pin.

And so I held off on connecting it.

On top of that, his chest-flap screws came out. But thankfully I found them and took this picture so I'd remember where/how they went.



After that... I was like #@% it... As a shuttle goes, he looks good enough... and nothing is broken!!

And really... as a shuttle goes, it looks a thousand times better than DX9 Chigurh... even with the mistransformation.




So... I transform my figures fairly frequently. No doubt, I will attempt to put Thomas in shuttle-mode again... and who knows, maybe the thruster sections will cooperate... which might allow that thin piece to connect well with the tail fin.

But, even then... when that chest-flap fell out on me.. it 'shook' me a bit.

Most of my FansToys figures are issue free. Though my PerfectFusion Cesium had his dino-legs on the incorrect corresponding appendages... and we've all read the posts from people experiencing issues with Sheridan.

So these factors were definitely in the back of my mind as I was transforming Thomas. And the $300+ pricetag he now commands.

But despite the issue with the chest-piece, and the thrusters, Thomas remains an amazing figure in my opinion!!

Design-wise, there's soo much they got right on Thomas! But you know how it is... all they need to do is overlook one thing on somebody's $300+ figure... and a reputation is tarnished.

I'm glad that mine is still complete, intact, and as handsome as ever!!

Klaatu comes with two flightstand options. A thin stand, and a 'tractor-beam' stand.

It feels wrong to remove stickers from Transformers. As a kid, applying the stickers was an exciting process.

Now I want to make a display for my 9 green QC stickers

 

Bite the bullet and pay the late tax or wait for another batch at retail price? Advice?

 

Considering the markup they do on the MSRP on reissues, the reissue will likely be approaching some of the lower prices out there right now. Probably a little lower. But FT reissues sell out decently fast, so there's a decent chance you won't even get one.

I decided I'm not even going to bother trying to get this thing. Astrotrain is one of my favorite G1 characters, but I'm not paying $300+ for one of these. I paid less than that for Zeta Unicron.

 

At this point it doesn't matter, you'll end up paying more than you should either way. Wanna hear my advice?

Wait another 30 years until our generation starts dying and nobody gives a shit about G1 TFs anymore. Then prices will go back to normal - and below that. Maybe you'll have a few years to enjoy your FT Thomas before it's your turn.

 

Thanks for the feedback, fellas. I love Astrotrain but the thought of dropping $300 for one is killing me. Plus, you can't have Astrotrain without Blitzwing. I don't like FT's new business model.

Depressing, KN, but it puts things in perspective, lol.

 

I saw FT Quietus (Cyclonus) re-issue selling for $280 and sold out, so any Thomas re-issue would likely be at least that, more likely $300. So if you got the cash, I'd say just get one now for the $320-330 going rate.

 

I'm seriously considering it...ugh, scratching that nostalgia itch is bad for the wallet.

 

For what it's worth, if I had to pay the current going rate for Thomas, I would still be happy with the figure. It's kind of hard to believe we complained about the original preorder price of $220. If Thomas is offered at that price right now it'd probably sell out in 2 seconds.

 

I always do, and toss that **** straight in the trash.
