I've seen quite a few people asking for it. I'm just fine with a 3p Devastator, but I guess some people are purists at heart ‍♂️

There have been breakage issues in every (or almost every) TF line since the beginning. That’s not what I’m talking about.

I believe fans interpreted it wrong. In my opinion, I dont believe TT are making a MP RAIDEN, more like a misunderstanding from mentioning MP Skyfire, along with a Unite Warriors-"like" Raiden. It states Raiden will be UW sized (not Titan Class size). It says nothing of it being a MP directly, only that it's a TT product. :)

Because they want to show the 3rd Party companies up. That they can make a better looking figure with more dynamic articulation & accessories. ;)

I can totally see them fitting MP45 in there if that's what they wanted to do. (we all know their magic skills lol). Including either a cargo bay for actual mp figures OR a just a set of miniature Autobots in vehicle and bot mode to use while in Jet mode. I'm absolutely stoked to see how this turns out but I don't think we will see it til next year at earliest. Jazz, Mirage, Trailbreaker, Hoist, Cliffjumper will be coming too I'm almost positive just by using my forsight. (My honest thought is they will release more mini bots pretense & have those minis interact with Skyfire in jet mode)..

Devastator is a victim of "popular character is first to get a mold and thus is outdated compared to less popular characters" syndrome.

The only MP Devastator that scales with most other 3rd party MP combiners is the Toyworld one, but that one has extremely innaccurate individual constructicons. Plus for some reason they are stingy about releasing the version with yellow thighs or the yellow thigh upgrade separately, despite the fact that most people want it thus it has a high aftermarket price. I'll never understand developers who won't satisfy the market's demand for toon accurate options...

Granted, I don't think there's any chance that Takara would make their Devastator big enough to look good next to 3rd party Omega Supremes, so our best chance is Fanstoys or X-Transbots.

I wasn't expecting an MP Skyfire. I was quite sure it was one of those cases when the Siege figure had to be considered a good enough MP stand-in, but evidently Takara thinks there is a market big enough for a proper Masterpiece figure. I wonder if his presence in the Netflix show might have contributed to this choice.
The next question obviously are how big he is going to be and how much he will cost. If Raiden is really going to be similar in size to the UW combiners I don't see Skyfire bigger than that, so he might be almost the same size of the Siege one. For the price, of course I expect him to be expensive.
I already have both the Siege and the FT versions despite not being a huge fan of the character, so I'm not in a hurry to buy another one. But if the MP follows the current trend of hypee articulation, the FT one will probably be sold.

Or some people don’t want a 3p dev due to either not collecting in the 3p market , or the over stylized ( not G1 toon accurate) designs , OR , the outrageous asking prices . I know I have my reasons. I’m sure others do as well . I’ll happily wait for an official Dev in MP scale .

With a lot of people thinking the Siege version is good enough over there,it must mean they have something up there sleeves about this release. I think he needs to be a little bit bigger than the Siege version, simply because you would want to slot Grimlock somewhere in between Skyfire and Optimus.
This is a pretty good idea of where he would fit now, not bad with the carbots, but a lot more iffy next to bigger bots

I can’t imagine what an MP Skyfire could offer that Siege doesn’t live up to.
    Except for size.
But I don’t go for super huge figures. But I do have Siege Sky(Jet)Fire and Titan Scorponok... but tbh if I found shrunken versions of them I’d go for it.

And to weigh in on MP Devvy... to each their own. I’ve seen what Takara considers ‘toon accurate’, and I’m sure they’d emulate the extra pieces because that’s what the original toy did. And if TR Drvvy is any indication then I don’t think I’d like the way it could potentially look.
I’ve also seen the breakage issues from recent MP’s.
    So no thanks.
Gravity Builder for me. I like the way it looks, and while the arms and hands are still separate pieces at least the upper legs aren’t.

Indeed good points. However, I think fans in this bucket need to prepare for the very real possibility that there will be no official MP Devvy. And in that case, what do you do?
I would say though, that the existence of an official MP Raiden bodes well for other MP combiners. In fact, it might be better for Takara to get their feet wet with combiners with a team that has more of a niche following.

Like many others I’ve got FT Phoenix and am completely satisfied with him, but I’ll be interested to see what TT comes up with. The one thing I think Phoenix lacks is the red armor pieces that the original G1 Jetfire toy had. If TT included the armor pieces and maybe a helmet (or alternate head) that made the head look more like the Super Valkyrie head then I’d be much more interested.

so TT is still going to release a Raiden set? i thought maybe that was dropped so i was thinking of going with the 3rd party set that has pre-orders up. if I see TT pre-orders i may need to change my order.

Comparing Siege Jetfire to MP Megatron I think Takara has margins to make an MP Grimlock that is around one head taller than Megatron and one head shorter than Jetfire. It wouldn't be 100% scale chart accurate but at least relative scale woukd be preserved. Of course, making MP Skyfire bigger would give them more leeway in sizing other releases. Between him and Raiden, it will be interesting to see what is Takara approach towards big characters in the MP line.
