Since Battle Convoy only came with “01” stickers, I suspect the repaint will have “01-05.” I kinda think the Grander pods will only be included with the Battle convoy and that’s why we’re given the opportunity to buy more seperately. A Vmax BC by itself would probably sell at $150 drawing in more casual fans with a cheaper price entry point. I still wish the crossover didnt take up one of the oaths, if they produced combining vehicles for the line I would retract my statement.
That statement is like an Asian asking why there’s no Chow Mien at your family thanks giving dinner... Look... the crossover might not be a big deal for the non-Japanese fans but it is a big deal for the local market - which is by far their larger market...
Exactly all SSSS was to me was a painful kids show with cool fighting cut scenes of Drago and Zenon. Right now the crossover appears as such, an action figure, a powered suit and a gimmick suit that looks like V2. I remember feeling duped at the time because I was very familiar with disk operating systems (I was 8-9) and the technology on scene was fantastical AF.
"Thanksgiving" is an American Holiday Tradition... and it's Chow Mein. Takara Tomy is Japan based. Not all Asians are the same.
If they make a crossover, i at least hope it's something... Idk... Not like Gridman nor Gundam. Gridman is basically a super robot, a guy who turns into a giant who gets armor and weapons from vehicles. Scientifically realistic my ass. Might of course be appealing for a lot of people even outside Japan, but not for everyone. Gundam is the opposite: real robot kind of stuff. They require repairings and fuel, spare parts and all the stuff, and they KINDA follow the laws of physics and engineering. Yet, they DO NOT transform. So, if they do something super robot-like, i hope it's something more mainstream. Like Kyōryū Sentai Juranger (also known as the source for MMPR). Something that even the western adult collectors could identify as a major part of their childhood and is surely more known to the potential customers than Gridman, a series that some people don't even know. (And no, i don't hate Gridman. I preordered two powered suits and i didn't order the rest of the subline only because of budget issues) But if they go back to the original real robot concept that this series was meant to be, i can only hope to get something that could actually transform and doesn't cost so much. Gundam are too tall in the series to be cheaply represented in a 1:60 scale, even model kits of that scale (that are usually cheaper than already assembled figures because you have to do half of the work) are very expensive. So, i hope for something more affordable and possibly transformable. But i can't think about anything different than vintage diaclone stuff or transformers. So, probably the fifth phase is not a crossover but a new diaclone subline, like the trivers stuff. That means new robots, new gimmicks, new alt modes and (i hope, after the Gridman pilot) new dianaut molds with neck articulation even on male figures. I really hope for some beast alt-modes for the human army, i can't believe Waruders are the only ones with cool dino robots... WARNING: IF YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED IN MY OPINION ABOUT THE NEXT LINE AND/OR YOU'RE TOO LAZY TO READ ALL OF MY DELIRIUM (TOO MUCH COFFE, I DIDN'T SLEEP LAST NIGHT, SORRY) JUST PLEASE READ WHAT FOLLOWS Speaking of dino robots, i'm expecting a kaiju to display with my collection (i don't make any distinction in my diaclone army, all the bots are on the same side, i use kaiju figures as enemies) and the next i should've got was the S.H. MonsterArts Rathalos. Yet, that is late on delivery so this wednesday i'm gonna get something A LOT cooler: the Neca 18"/50cm Pacific Rim Knifehead with lights. So, if anyone of you guys have it, could you please post a comparison pic with ANY diaclone robot that is taller than a powered suit? The ideal would be a comparison with Gigantor, but i don't wanna ask too much. I'm just too excited that i can't wait to see how big he is compared to diaclone stuff... P.S. Idk if the red colored text has some meaning like the blue for ironic comments, so if it does let me know and i'll change it. I'm asking because in jail (at least in Italy) writing in red means you're a snitch, but we're not in jail and that color is usually associated to important/dangerous stuff, also it's my favorite one, so... P.P.S. Damn i write definitely too much when i'm overdosing on Monster Energy. That drink is (i suppose, never tried) like cocaine, expecially if you do like me and drink seven cans in a night to finish a project before dawn and stay awake til the next evening.
A couple of questions for those of you in the know... I saw they have Diaclone Expo listed on the TakaraTomy site as an online event. Makes since due to Covid and Hasbro had HasCon last year online and is going to do it again this year. (Correction - @Fort Max posted an image of that earlier I missed...) When is Diaclone Expo Online this year? I think it should be soon. It appears that's when they make the big reveals... Have they done exclusives every year? I know they had 4 Dia-Naut version of Dia-Battles and EX prototype the first year. Hero head for Cosmo Battles and the Warudroids 9-pack followed... I'm not sure if the eHobby 02/03 and Desert 00 sets were a part of Expo exclusives or not... Have there been any others?
I just came out of my man-cave after a day's worth of fondl- I mean, analyzing the figure with intense scrutiny, I convinced myself that I need the Pod Grander expansion unit. Just one. let's not go too crazy about it As for where we go next? I'm putting all my bets on two things, hear me out please lol! Gats-Blocker / Multiforce 14 (they have the direction for this design I'm sure, based on the trivers and verse rizers) or! Skybase. (I'm getting this idea from the V-max trailer really. They're testing the waters with a design that everyone really wanted: a robot and a place for dianaut diorama) for now, all I see for the interim is that they'll focus on the crossovers first. It's a win-win situation really, for those that don't want any crossover and those that want. Either way, what a year to be in! COVID may still be around fellas, but if things like V-Max keeps pumping out, I'll be a happy man no matter what! EDIT: also I just want to add that I've been handling this UFO-thing (whazzat called? CFO?) and damn, out of all the bullet fighters/cores we get, this may be the best thing IMO! it's pretty much my fidget toy at this point, even followed me all the way to my office If they do release this stand-alone, I'll buy 10. It's that awesome!
Hi all, thanks to Gen. Magnus I made my first foray into Diaclone Reboot with Battle Buffalo. Got the hero colour versions of Trijetter and Tridigger on pre order as well, my wallet is not thanking me right now.
WELCOME BRETHREN! Clearly you are not swayed in our ways yet! For your baptism, you require either or all of these to be inducted into our Clandestine Diaclone group (CDcult™): 1- purchase a Big powered (GV, IMS, or Destroyer. All 3 the better!) 2- purchase a Giganter (the original or the new one coming out) 3- purchase the convoy V-max (my personal recommendation) buying one of these nets you an instant Knighthood into our Clandestine Diaclone group (CDcult™), buying ALL OF THEM elevates you to near-Godhood status and you be able to shake hands with the Great Robot Base PERSONALLY, with Gridman at your side. (the best thing since shaking hands with Sinatra!) PS: This message you receive came from Mezzie, a lowly peon within this thread who just happened to acquire a V-max recently and began experiencing delusions of being a dianaut sentenced for life at the Rura Penthe Dilithium Mines. Ramblings of madman bound to occur. Take his advice with a pinch of dilithium salt. Follow the suggestions above at your own risk. (I kid. Welcome! Hope you join for us lot with more collections and pictures from you soon!)
Ok so.... I had quit Diaclone since it was getting too expensive. DA-20 was the last thing I got... However, DA-65 brought me back for one release since it was special. But I couldn’t JUST get that, I had to get all of the sets that go with it. So I ordered the extra trailer, DA-62, DA-64 DA70, and DA-73. Now I just doubled up on all five of those sets. I always doubled up on the dianauts for the other releases so I had plenty of troops. But I wanted to make sure there was plenty of furniture for the trailers... and.. well...
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm definitely intending on getting a big powered at some point so look forward to my elevation to the cult . Maybe a battle convoy if they do end up releasing one without the trailer.
I'm not sure I get the analogy. If anything it’s the opposite, we (and Japanese fans) went to thanksgiving expecting the traditional dishes, but were provided Chow Mien instead. From what I’ve gathered from Japanese fans on Twitter and YouTube, they weren’t super excited about Gridman either, mostly just the Gridman fans were. I think many of them felt much like we did, ie: it’s a character that doesn’t really fit into a line where the focus is on “real” robots and the figure’s gimmick doesn’t really add anything to the toys we’ve been buying. And don’t misunderstand, I may be like many here who were asking why, but I’m buying it.
The expo already 'happened', it's mostly just a retrospective of the line but it did give us our first look at Battles Gridman. https://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/diaclone/40th/ In other news, my second battle convoy, the one that had to be split up, has landed and should be on its way proper tomorrow. No idea on the one from OMP in Singapore, I'm beginning to wonder if it went by sea and is stuck in the Suez jam lol
