Are we moving the goalposts from quality of engineering to preference of aesthetics?

I think engineering and aesthetics go hand in hand - so not moving the goalposts.

But, that's why they invented flavors, because people have different tastes...

You're gatekeeping the topic now too? You asked for upgrade suggestions and people suggested copying elements of Zeta's rendition. I feel like you're the one that made it a this versus that conversation when we're all here to discuss what would be a superior product for collectors.

If you're looking for a fight, you are barking up the wrong tree.

 

So this is my wish list for a third party stuff.
1) A second head (maybe without all the moving eyes and stuff) to display on the stand with the alternate faceplate without having to take the head off the main robot.

2) a frame for the people that decide to take all the kibble off thier Unicron and form it into a separate planet, so that the planet mode can be displayed separately from the robot mode, with another set of planetary rings.

3) The unpainted blue/gray maw piece, but cast in the right color

 

This one is gonna be nearly impossible I think. The entire front of the planet, including the maw is all one piece of blue plastic. If you recast it in yellow plastic then it'll be more fragile and literally the entire front of the planet will have to be painted blue. Transformations on fully painted pannels pretty much guarantees paint chipping. You'd probably want separate blue/orange/yellow plastic pieces to avoid the rub - which means high part count and potential fragility. I'm just not sure how someone would go about it.

ALSO... more importantly....

My first meaningful contribution to the thread - I'd love some 3p hands that are FULLY PAINTED silver. The grey/silver mix looks cheap af to me. It bothers me way more than the color of the maw or the shittiness of the minifigs. Extra hinge joints out at the base of each digit (a la FT-10 Phoenix) would make a HUGE difference to me as well.

ALSO - an extra faceplate with METALLIC green painted eyes would be an instabuy from me. I'm surprised more people haven't said the same!

 

Lighter weight wings/rings.

Jesus Christ these wings are way, way, way too heavy. My Unicron's left shoulder cannot stay together except at its most downward position if the wings are in.

I don't know who designed the shoulder joint but man what an utter disappointment. That is not going to hold up long.

 

Would really love
1. Filler for planet mode for when bot is separated
2.Stand for Kibble that also supports Rings, (allowing planet mode and bot mode)

 

I would be interested in a stand that can tilt the planet mode

 

All I would like to see is a face plate with painted eyes, plastic fillers for the maw teeth, plastic fillers for the hands. More movie styled rings would be cool too, maybe a two pack that has regular and orange highlights showing the glowing energy.

Orange gears for the planet mode teeth, as these are the only parts that cannot be painted as any paint would chip off easily so these need to be cast in a solid colour

New hands. Keep the overall design the same, just make them all silver, eliminate the hollowness, and add the ability to splay the fingers.

 

I'd like him to have a Headmaster (looks like the head he came with but transforms into a robot on its own).

 

A new faceplate with metallic eyes, new hands, and maw teeth fillers would be a nice small start. The only way i would consider taking the kibble off is if there was a sort of shell someone would make to attach it all to to have a complete planet mode.

 

Can't have 2 separate modes without a 2nd set of planetary rings. Assembling the panels only leaves out the "equator" and stand support.
