Maybe so, but at the same time, as long as there's no explicit contradictions, be it terms of canon, storyline, character, lore, etc.
Besides, that's among the many major reasons why the Bay films are criticised.

As many of you might've guessed from my HasbroVerse comments, I'm a sucker for world-building, and I see no shame in that.

    Matter of opinion, I suppose.

I'm sure there are no weird comments about Angel Miguel Soto's race or anything weirdly racist in the boards

You are the first person to bring this up.

If Defenders is all I can rely on, that\'s not a good endorsement. That series was not very good.

Only for episode 8 which, while largely filled with nostalgia pandering, also tried a bit too hard to be subversive with where its story went. Episodes 7 and 9 played it very safe (although 7 was competently made, while 9 was a mess (from what I've heard since I didn't bother watching 8 or 9 but I have watched in-depth reviews from critics and defenders of both films)).

9 was the nostalgia pandering mess. I swear, every ten minutes there was a nostalgia scene.

Episode 7, for me, was incredibly detrimental to the sequel trilogy as a whole because Lucasfilm played it way too safe with that movie. Unfortunately, it was more or less Lucasfilm and Disney’s way of responding to the cries of “The prequels were too different” from the fanboys who got upset that episode 7 relied on nostalgia. It was just Rebels vs. Imperials 2.0, the outfits (particularly Stormtroopers) were the same, the technology was the same (Seriously. The technology shown in OT and PT is vastly different from each other, solidifying that both trilogies took place several decades from each other. Meanwhile, if Lucasfilm hadn’t announced that the Force Awakens took place 30 years after ROTJ, I never would’ve known when the movie first started). Even the super weapon is the same, it’s just a planet this time.

Sure, Episode 7 was competently made, but in a parallel universe, we get an episode that isn’t so reliant on ‘member berries and nostalgia.

And that's exactly what I'm afraid will happen with Transformers.

After general audiences got tired of Bay's style, which has always been hated by a large portion of the fandom, I'm afraid we'll get stuck on creatively bankrupt redos of older iterations of Transformers, getting churned out on a regular basis, built entirely around formulas.

Reusing old ideas and applying formulas doesn´t have to be necessarily doom, though im not optimistic either, the problem with doing these things is that usually producers don´t have a pretty good idea of quality, they think of getting the audience to feel a sense of familiarity, of evoking emotions on a context regardless of how properly built it was.

It certainly can make a decent movie, like it did with the Force Awakens, but it's pointless, outside of just reliving the past. If I've already seen everything in a movie before, then why would I want to see the movie?

Depends, the source of these old ideas ain´t always good or reached much of it´s potential, for example, the G1 animated series had some interesting ideas that usually weren´t all that well executed since producers cared little, for example, about continuity, they didn´t want to plan a larger story, flesh out characters, stay consistent with elements stabilished, they were more focused on creating a collection of one-shots that promoted certain toys(usually new)in a setting whose rules sounded cool to whoever was writing that particular episode, it wasn´t always like that but a pattern can be seen.
