I completely forgot about 41-43 (had to google it, I admit. That's how much I care for BW) and I know 36+ was an exclusive, no?

I loved BW, but started to really resent it seeing the price jumps those took. Lucked out and got MP-43 on discount from a BBTS sale, and got a great deal on MP-41 from a Chinese reissue that literally came over on a boat. As far as 36+, I don't actually recall the details, just all the complaints about the price hike from the already frustrating price hike that came with the original 36. (I opted for the Infinite Transformation KO due to the universal praise it got, even from some of the purists I know)

Crikey, there's a lot of hurt on this thread!

I was actually super happy to pick this up today. £200 is a sting for sure, but...

    1. Used copies go for £350+ here in the UK
    2. In a month or so I'll be opening a minty fresh copy of a high quality, elegant, and all round shiny copy of MP Cyclonus. When I open up the box, it will look and smell beautiful.
    3. The price to quality ratio for FT blows most other companies out of the water. For example, if I spend £200 on a TT figure, would I get the same level of quality? Probably not.
    4. I already have this figure, which means I now have an Armada!

Managed to get one from Omegalock thankfully. Guess the upcoming XTB Eligos will be his Armada.

Right here. I've gotten a lot of stuff at some huge discounts lately, so I'm okay paying $280 instead of the $230-250 I would've paid at different sites for Sovereign. It's shitty that they marked up the base price, but they did and I'd rather regret buying it than regret not.

But those figures are actually complex! Not saying Quietus is simple, but the amount of parts Megatron and Optimus have is way higher than Quietus.

Wish I knew they’d be reissuing this before I paid what I paid for mine. Hopefully I can make back a couple bucks on this one.

No problem. By that time, the stimulus amount will be 5000. I mean bacon will be 50 dollars a slice, but that s*** ain't healthy anyways.

    Oooooooooooh, MALICIOUSLY. Haha.

I'm personally expecting at least $250 for Dead End, since he'll be coming with the combiner parts. Though I won't be surprised if he's the first figure to end up breaking the $300 barrier in terms of MSRP, not secondary value.

As a fairly new collector of 9 1/2 months i'm happy to be finally getting Quietus without having to pay eBay scalpers $500+ for it, but this "event" today was kind of crazy. No, not kind of, it was balls-out, bucket on the head, running through the streets naked crazy. It must've been so damn nice when figures were affordable and when it wasn't a horse race for everyone and their grandmothers to get an order in on an almost $300 figure. I know it's wasn't always this way but for it to ever gotten to this point is nuts. Sadly this is the cheapest i've ever seen this figure and i'm happy I finally have my chance to own it but I can't shake the feeling of mild disgust I have for the situation.

I'm rambling, as I usually do, but I only wish I could've been collecting with you all when bots were affordable and scarcity wasn't being manipulated to this point where we are today. So, salute, my frens. Maybe one day the price of collecting will come back down to earth but until then don't go into debt because of it!

I was thinking... Apache is definitely higher parts-count than quietus. I think that FT knows that the MMC option for springer is almost as good, so they can really only get away with +$40 on that. I can't help but think that when XTB failed the Locke release, FT decided to shit on them by showing that they could sell out at +$100 on the competition. Too bad MMC isn't offering a Cyclonus - I don't think FT could get away with this pricing in that situation.

I honestly think that MMC is by far the biggest competition to FansToys at this point. I hope that we can see more of their MP line soon. I'm in on their Star Convoy - I expect it to be FT quality (well... maybe not paint) at half the price, but I'll gladly eat my words if I'm wrong.

Mark my words, if FT keeps this price hiking up then MMC will become the new 3p standard.

I’ve got one foot out the door on collecting FT (and MP, for some slightly different but overlapping reasons) because of crap like this. This hobby is supposed to be fun. Having to frantically watch preorders in the middle of work days for the privilege of paying $300 for a figure is not something I’m willing to do. I’m about done.

Jesus this. I thought getting into Fanstoys with Roadking was a lot of fun and opened up my eyes to the company and G1 collecting. However now it's turned me off on the idea with the inflated feeding frenzy it's become. I only want Quietus cause I love his alt mode and IDW armor and he'll look great next to (hopefully eventually) Maketoys Galvatron.
