Ah, how nice to see Prime and Bumblebee engage in some friendly face-ripping and joyful massacre of hapless Decepticons. :D  Poor Blitzwing... now he knows how the Fallen felt.
I frankly don't plan on getting this. The proportions are all wrong, he has giant bicepses and thick thighs and shins, like some bulked up wrestler (can we get an Ultimate Warrior repaint?) - maybe closer to the animation model from the movie, I only watched that movie once frankly, and that was enough - but I much prefer the more boxy but normal proportioned look of the SS Voyager toy.

Not perfect but I need something that is around the same same as the Bay MPM Prime, I would have gotten the WJ version but it was just too big for my display.

You’re right, none are released yet so we can’t judge quality and paint. But so far they all look very good from what we can see.

Hoping this is as fluid to transform as it looks in that video(yes I’m aware it’s smoothed out for the sake of being a stop motion video). Most MPMs I own feel intuitive up to a point, I hope transformation for this is intuitive all the way through.

He looks every bit as good as their MPM 2007 Prime looked. In fact, they both sort of sacrificed the accuracy of the lower arms. At least this one hides it on the bottom. Either way this is a situation where Takara/Hasbro is late to the party and we have other options to compare it to and I would say they stack up slightly above average. Since I would probably never have him in truck mode, I think I'm sticking with SS and 3 Zero/ three A whatever they want to call themselves.

I completely get the hate on the alt mode, the SS alt is even superior to this Masterpiece. But to say that the robot mode is just an upscale of the SS is the biggest reach imo, these robot modes are not comparable at all.

    -More accurate (still flawed) head
    -Far more accurate shoulders
-Arms are completely different in proportion and the MPM's is more accurate
-The back and sides are a lot more accurate
-The pectoral pieces merge with the whole torso a lot more seamlessly
-Hip skirt section looks completely different and actually represents the movie
-Literally ALL of the leg area, the SS because of the budget has rectangles for legs while the MPM's has more defined naturalistic shapes that nail the movie's look. The legs on my TW Prime aren't even as accurate

Does the MPM have a worse Alt mode than most of the BB Primes? Yes, including its SS counterpart. Does the MPM have a flawed robot mode? Yes, arm panels, swivel at the knee, kinda off head, legs that might not be too long enough (could be the camera angle making it look shorter than it actually is), etc are all flaws. But, to say that the MPM's robot mode even remotely looks similar in quality to the SS just seems like such a forced and stretched critique to me. It clearly utilizes a lot of different engineering with some similar aspects, but majorly different results.

I really hope it was Peter Cullen voicing him in this, I think it was and he sounds fantastic! This is why Peter is the best to voice Prime. The others have talent at being voice actors and if they did Prime that\'s fine but they fail when trying to be Peter Cullen voicing Prime. Hopefully Hasbro will wake up and have him voice Prime properly in the next few movies and shows.

The figure looks alright but could be better. The cat ears in truck mode are silly, his crotch is huge for some reason and his actual head feels off. I don\'t think I\'ll get him, at least not at full price. The KO\'s are just way bettwr painted and at a better price point these days. Takara keeps this up they will price themselves out of the market.

Robot mode is without a doubt better than the SS version, which was based on early concept art. Based on this video, the articulation isn’t looking all that great though. I think I’m happy with my 3A copy for the time being.

I wish the shot with MPM-7 was a little clearer so I could see their relative heights. Trying to determine if this will look good next to my TC-02 Bee.

I know it’s vastly accurate than the SS version but it also doesn’t feel like a masterpiece to me. Just my opinion though, and there are good things going for it. It has very nice detailing and the headsculpt is pretty good.

    Amazing.

And I continue to demand a feature film with this (cheesily heroic) characterization and performance from Cullen, and this visual design, that isn't just a spinoff lol.

Seems the only way to make this look good is to cover half of it by visual effects.

I believe when ppl say this is an upscale of SS 38, they aren't wrong, it's about the transformation? I don't see it as NOT an improvement, but it is one and seems very much based on it. MPM 12 appears to be a greatly VISUALLY improved SS 38 while retaining much of upper body transformation and a combination of WJ M09 Fire Scorpion lower half with mods. I'm more interested in getting this MOLD as a completionist than anything and also to verify why indeed are his thighs so foreshortened.

Yeah, unlike their Starscream video, this one relies too much on VFX.

I 100% agree with this post

If those Optimus Prime voice lines are new, then it just goes to show that Peter Cullen still has the touch and the power to voice Optimus Prime for a few more movies, shows and hopefully video games as well. Hopefully it will serve as a wake up call to Hasbro to not treat him like dirt.

For a leader class, it's somewhat decent. For a MP, it's just downright disappointing when even MPM-1 Starscream looks more accurate in bot mode than this did. I'm not surprised if this initial began as a Leader class toy before it got the budget to move onto MPM when they needed to have more parts to make it work.

He's like close to 80 years old. It's really time for him to rest and relax due to his age. Imo. Not a criticism, just out of concern for this living legend.

Peter Claver Cullen is a Canadian voice actor. He is best known as the voice of Optimus Prime in the original 1980s Transformers animated series, and most other incarnations of the character. Wikipedia
Born: July 28, 1941 (age 79 years), Montreal, Canada
