I'm kinda wondering if it's the shade of purple that's throwing me off. Anyone wanna photoshop this in a more blueish tone? XD

Wow I feel like there might be some 3P reps among us using gorilla marketing to nitpick this thing to death.

Guerrilla, but I appreciate the mental image of Optimus Primal shit-posting on the boards :p

That cannon mode is slick, definitely prefer that configuration over the bot!

Guerilla, all this time, I didn't know it had a different spelling. Quite unnecessary.

Purple never photographs well. Look back a few pages and someone posted the colors by themselves. The shade of purple on the figure and the shade of the battle damage.

My eyes are rolling, when did we start overanalyzing the color shades to this degree. Can someone point to another example?

I'll be honest, some of those pictures make the figure look OK. Not great, but OK. He's still got proportional problems, but I could look past that, potentially, if the color was right. Mold him in a blue that leans slightly to purple instead of that godawful bright purple, without any battle damage, and I might actually pick him up. As it is, though, the color remains a dealbreaker for me.

Don't want to draw too much attention but doesn't it look like the rear stabilizer could be grasped by one's hand...say to wield the artillery piece like a giant blaster? Hehehe of course Mr. Toy Safety Board, I'm just imagining things. :D

He is really purple though to match with his latest image. I do wish he has some hint of blue too. But otherwise , excellebt figure

I think that's quite unnecessary. This plainly isn't the decisive improvement many of us were hoping for. If a figure as wanting as Titans Return Galvatron can still wind up looking somehow the less awkward one in comparison pics, that's not a good sign.

Of course that's not to say it doesn't get a lot of things right, but the wow factor just isn't there. It's a bit closer to what most of us wanted, but it's nowhere near the level of what they did for Hot Rod.

Beast Wars is an example of gorilla warfare though.

...hmmmm. I think that’s an over generalization based on some pretty trash “in-hand photos”. Would be fantastic to see this in a more official capacity before everyone decides it’s such a travesty.

I've seen it come up on other boards. Seems common when those that are not as immersed in this stuff want to talk about Transformers. It's an easy mistake to make, since often when people talk about a second generation they mean the passing of the torch between generations like Megatron to Galvatron as opposed to referring to an actual toyline named Generation 2 like we do here.

I think we're looking at different photos, because to me the Titans Return version always looks like the incredibly awkward one.

It’s not over analyzing per say. When I got TR Galvatron 5 years back I was disappointed that it wasn’t as dark a purple as reviews and photos made it seem. It’s quite helpful that those who have the figure in hand can tell us what the colors are.

Welp, after seeing Galvatron, all my first thoughts went into "What is it with the Kingdom Designers, MPM-12 Designers and the SS86 Designers and stretching the heads?", because these heads just do not work for me. I can handle iffy proportions, but when the head is ruined, it absolutely tends to break me wanting of the figure and tends to result in my skips more often than not.

I have to agree with the color analysis. When I upload my ER Scorponok or even UM, their purple and blues in the PC monitors are way different when looking at it in person.

The same thing occurred with the latest Sunstreaker if I recall correctly; the two shades of yellow apparently didn't look nearly as mismatched IRL as they looked in images.
