The movies basically saved the franchise as well?

*puts on monocle, opens story book*

“And so the everlasting battle between Beast Wars fans, G1 fans, and Movie fans continues over who has the least representation in the fandom. All the while, the Animated, Unicron Trilogy, and RID/Car Robots fans are all shaking their heads hoping for a new toy line of their own someday.”

Too bad Takara now only releases the same version as Hasbro cuz I think the “Takara Version” of this woulda been hella sick.

Personally I actually like the alt mode, but I do get why people would'nt like it. I would have preferred if the cab sunk further in the trailer as well, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. Still looks way better than the POTP Rodimus imo.

I'm super glad Rodimus is about voyager height. I saw a comparison image using the blast effect and he was taller than Optimus while crouching down, so it's good to see they'll be pretty close.

    No that didn't. That's a myth.
Franchise was doing fine with the Armada and Cybertron toylines needing Beast Wars repaints cause they couldn't keep up with demand, movies just made them even more money.

Beast Wars actually saved the franchise from going under because sales were that bad.

That is most certainly not a myth. Show me again the sales figures from 2002-2006 and then again from 2007-2011

Commander Class so probably $80 instead of $50

Seems pretty cheap of Hasbro to sell us a Voyager-sized Transformer with a trailer that both have unpainted, clip-on wheels for $80 but it seems like even many fans who have issues with this figure are willing to buy it so why would Hasbro do better?

Cheers to everyone who genuinely likes it, enjoy, easy pass for me.

EDIT: I hate dropping a post that's all negative, so just something neat that stands out to me, is how the gun turret trailer can be clipped into roads/optimus's trailer and either dragged around or left as part of a city scene. Inside of the trailer looks loaded with ports, too, so it can double as a mobile armory for all your extra guns.

Selling more does not equal saving the franchise.

The movies wouldn't have happened if a franchise was needing "saving", to financially risky.

Besides, it's not like they're doing the franchise any wonders nowadays.

While the movies didn't necessarily save the franchise, they definitely did bring transformers back into the mainstream.

Nice that he can load Kup or Blurr in the trailer.
Did that happen in the cartoon?
    Nice play feature.

    Ultimately it doesn't really matter.

We're here, now. And today we have pictures of a pretty definitive Rodimus Prime toy that was 35 years in the making.

Honestly, the trailer is nice, and i dont mind it being commander cus they put as much work as they could into it

plus you people have options if you want a trailer that does more than what the G1 could (POTP, Fansproject) or if you want a trailer that is built into rodimus (DX9, Titanium)

this is for those that want an accurate rodimus that feels like a tribute to the character, like me

so stop having Bitch fights over a figure with a box of many gimmicks

cus i have strong bets that yall are older than me by at least 5 years and yet act younger over such minor issues

say you dont like it or you do like it, move on

Fair warning. I'm gonna post a badly made meme picture.

Commander Rodimus looks good guys. There's a world where he didn't come with the camper-van-truck-thing and was sold at a Leader price and people would be pratttling on about how he should've had it at a Commander price point because it would've been "authentic to the G1 toy" and "better than Earthrise Optimus' truck-thing".

Also, on the topic of Rodimus' car being too far forward and not looking enough like a Winnebago, the Kingdom one is more like a car pulling a trailer, which I think is fine and probably more of the original intent of the design anyway, since he was probably supposed to be a space truck with a trailer.

He looks great, I love the trailer playability. Too bad he’s definitely sticking out too far but it isn’t a dealbreaker.

This is better served in another thread. Armada trilogy was successful for Hasbro but the sales from the 2007 movie alone were exponentially and substantially higher where it was no surprise to see Hasbro want to continue the movies and associated toylines. The actual surprise being just how much higher sales were from the 2007 movie. I’ve seen a bar graph years back(not sure where). Anyways if you guys want to discuss that further, feel free to make a new thread in the transformers toys forum.

Back onto Rodimus, surprised we haven’t seen the matrix chamber in action nor the slide out tray mentioned in leaks. Most exciting thing for me from the new pics is seeing that the hands have a 5mm cut out so holding the guns shouldn’t rest entirely on how tight the fingers are pinned and the now modular gun platform. Hoping it can combine with Rodimus somehow.

I wasn't completely sold on this until I saw the back of the trailer opened. Then I was like "Oh neat!"
And it's not like I need that feature or anything, but that's the final detail that sold me here.

All in all, this figure looks fine. Not great, not a disappointment, it's fine. :)

Am I the only one who thinks the wheels/rims look a lot better close-up?
