This looks great, I’m really excited for it! We also get a little peek at some of the blast effects in his smaller car mode at the top right, looks like a smoke cloud or something. Nice to have some different blast effects!

 

Still with the trailer was integrated, but this looks good and I’m excited to get it.

Where’s the additional features that make it worth the $80 price point though, aside from the turret and dozen blast effects?

 

He looks good and all, but I think I’m going to hold out for the version with rubber tires and metal feet.

 

Goodness, don't be like that. Bayformer fans got a full gestalt ROTF Devastator. It isn't absurd that BW fans would like some more representation for the Transformer series that saved the franchise.

 

Seems like SS86 Hot Rod is more like the Rodimus vehicle mode than this thing, how odd. I bet Hot Rod is too short to dock with this thing's trailer at the front though.

Anyway, I've never liked the Rodimus Prime design so this was already unlikely, and nothing in these pictures is convincing me to part with my $50, especially cheap stuff like leaving the wheels unpainted, and putting this in Kingdom only to leave out all the 5mm ports and 3mm blast effects points.

Also, the back of his trailer looks like a trash truck which is amusing.

 

Okay, we already knew but now that I think about it, his trailer does a lot more than Optimus\' box with a robot buddy.  Rather than trim down to make Leader class and be somewhat lacking, they just let it ride into Commander and probably added more to meet the value (like make the gun turret separate so the trailer can actually be one for smaller cars.

Also, Rodimus sans trailer kinda looks like the minivan model of the same line Hod Rod is from.

 

Price doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that the car sits too far out in the trailer. I've only ever wanted a modern toy that looked like the classic Winnebago. I was hoping it was mistransformed, but that doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately. Oh well.

Interesting that they’ve put hot rod in a wider A-stance to make Rodimus look taller.

luckily it looks like it won\'t be that hard to mod the figure to make it the car sit more into the trailer so that\'s good. 

 

There is always next year, especially since there is supposedly going to be two a year now. God I love that pure 90's design.

 

I just came to say this. But you said it perfectly. I'll still buy it but I'm wondering if every time I see it in alt mode I'll resent that. Between this and Kingdom UM, seems like they just can't get joining trailers with cabs right.

 

Between the protruding cab and the clip-on wheels (which are quickly becoming one of my biggest Transformers toy pet peeves), the alt mode is still underwhelming.

But he looks like an otherwise solid figure, so those things aren't a dealbreaker for me.

 

I think this guy really isn’t that bad as everyone makes him out to be. But 80$ price point is a little hard to swallow, but I’m still gonna bite on it. I love the hydraulics on the trailer trunk thing, I miss stuff like that

 

EXACTLY. Rodimus is my favorite character and the robot mode looks great, so I will get it. But that vehicle mode really killed my excitement, and will also most likely resent the alt mode every time I see it as well.
