I put a 7-inch Label Device Broad Blast next to Volcanicus to show how big this giant is.

edit: It looks nice to me and I don’t think it needs the upgrade kit.

I combine the Dinobots in style of using the upgrade kit. It looks like more a muscular man than a giant ape now. However, doing so, the shoulders will become not tight enough to hold its big arms. The solution is to plug Grimlock’s craws into the magnum blade slots. The plug is of course quite loose. But it is already enough to make the shoulders stronger.
The con is that I cannot insert the magnum blade to its back. But I like it holding the blade on its hands. And I like it using one blade than two blades.

Has there been any whispers of Takara doing a 5-pack of Orthia with some upgrade parts?

Not even the 3rd Party companies have tried to improve on that design.

 

I feel like there’s a reason for that.

Completely unnecessary. Especially for the Selects one.

 

The swords yeah, but without this or the PE kit the combined proportions are horrendous because the torso is far too scrawny.

Try the hands and feet too.
Unnecessary.

 

Hands and feet less-so with this version but they’re still much nicer than the stock ones.

 

To each their own. The design of the Dreamwave hands are a significant improvement in my eyes. And the articulation of the feet makes them a must if you want the best version of this set possible.

 

Simple add on is using old potp hands on the torso. Otherwise, works quite well without the add-ons, which also risk making the fixed joints unstable with the extra weight.

 

3p hands may not handle the new swords well. The Seacon mold hands don't either unless reinforced with some right angle adapters.

The new Hastak feet are much more stable than most 3p feet with unsupported ball joints.

 

Pricey by my standards but well built. Love the colours.

Minor gripes:
1. The torso unpegs during handling.
2. As said before by others with regards to the thumb and sword handling.
3. He slightly tilts to the front. But with the sword at the back it functions like a counterweight that balances him back.

Overall a happy purchase.

 

I love the Dinobots and I really wish somebody would make a Volcanicus in Masterpiece quality, size and proportion. I would make room on my shelf for that one. Maybe even a JinBao oversized one.
