Mmhmm... most of the arguments don't bother me. The ones based on that awful photograph do... because that's not giving it its day in court, so to speak.

But I get it... I remember the arguments over DX9 Tyrant... I HATED that toy. HATED IT! I sold it off for the much more impressive FansToys' Sovereign. That thing was called beefy and chunky in a lot of early photos, too. Granted it didn't have anywhere near as bad a photo as the one from early yesterday that I've seen.

Maybe I just like my Galvatrons beefy... although, that makes me wonder why IDW's design doesn't work for me, that thing was as beefy as they come.

Headmasters too! His shoulders are jutting out from the middle of his torso!

Obviously animation cheats on proportions constantly. I GET why this may crush people's dreams of having an official Galvatron. But perhaps on the engineering side of things, this was the BEST possible outcome of this with budget/materials. I'm sure some 3rd party places do it better, but you also pay for that too!

I didn't really like his early IDW design that much either.
I did like his Earth mode though.

I've just been reading the comments the last couple days but after looking at this picture.....

HASBRO, WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?!!!

Like many other people earlier this year, I was really looking forward to a new and improved Galvatron. I was wary of the rumors of him being a Voyager but kept my hopes up. So unless this is still more bad photo shop crap, it's ultimately stupid! That TR Galvy on the right is a 5.5/10 at best as is. But after some modifying and 3P upgrades, some people were able to boost him up to a 7/10 IMO. So the only thing that would replace mine would have to be a 8/10 or better.

So HASBRO why should me and the others who don't care for it pay $50 for a stumpy, dumpy, big headed disappointment like this...? The one on the right is a......... 6/10 in bot form and that's being generous. So at this point I don't even care if I found it on sale at Ollie's a year from now.

Between this and that "Commander" class Rodimus Prime, HasTak has lost a lot of fans who've been exited for years about getting upgrades of these two. And if that's "B!+ching" then allow my Stimmy to laugh at that while spending that $130 elsewhere.

The reality is that Hasbro needs ALL of our money in order to stay in the Top 3 toy companies than we need a new Galvatron or Rodimus.

I can't wait for tonton to review this and put the hate off, even with his strange video tendencies. Maybe somone could edit out the background of the first pic and spam it so new readers don't only see the fisheye lens Stumpatron.

So I haven't been keeping track of this thread, but has anyone posted this song yet in regards to his wideness?

I don't think bolding your post is going to make anyone read it.

So you made it first before the "Dude, calm down it's just a toy" comments... I'm sure you'll be one of the first preorder that won't end up a defective one. :thumb

I love Sovereign, but he's really a chore to transform. Glorious in both modes, but you need instructions to do it each and every time. He does just look amazing, though.

If you read it then you'd know I was mostly talking to Hasbro.

While I do get that some people really hate the look of this guy, we should all take into account that looks aren't everything when it comes to tf figures. Take for example, siege optimus and megatron. While these two figures do look great imo, the tolerances and loose joints on my copies basically ruined my enjoyment of both molds. While the superb netflix version of megatron finally got me to like the mold, siege optimus remains to this day my least favourite wfc figure. Hell even my main issue with the tr galvatron figure wasn't just that he looks like dogshit, it was also that he felt extremely cheap and flimsy for his price point. Say whatever you will about how kingdom galvatron looks, but we really shouldn't make any final judgments until we get in depth info on the mold.

Galvatron looks good to me posed but in neutral stance wow... this is not what I was led to believe by the leaks/rumors prior to when we saw the pics. Now granted some leaked copies looked pretty bad before release but in some cases that was due to badly applied paint(where you could tell why the copy was rejected).

The low shoulders and broad chest kill the look for me. There’s some redeeming factors sure and I’m well aware of photo editing tools, lens distortion compared to the naked eye, et al(which is a novel in itself that I’m not going to get into here). What you’re seeing in the latest pictures might not change when you see this thing in person so I wouldn’t get your hopes up(if what you’ve seen recently put you off).

Not so much photoshopped more piss poor photography skills. The 3 lordginrai posted in response are much better pictures not taken by Seasalt, who has managed to distort the hell out of his photos. Just look at the cannon arm in the comparison with TR its twice the size of the other so its been squashed or the lense is on wide but too close either way its an awful photo to make any judgements on.

    Yes and no

Go back to 2007 and compare the original movie Leader Class lot with what we have now. Sure, more plastic and bigger figures back in the day. As far as articulation and CGI model accuracy, the Studio Series blows the old lot out of the water. Which is a fair trade off for me considering a soundbox and lights (and the battery compartment) took up a huge chunk of the torso

It’s also 14 years (shit) since then. Plastic regulations have changed because of global climate initiatives. Inflation happens. Labor costs rise. Hasbro moved production away from China (thank God, Takara not so much) and towards more US-friendly countries like Vietnam.

Engineering improves substantially over the better part of a decade-and-a-half.

Galvatron isn’t Leader sized like SS86 Grimlock per se, but his cannon is pretty big and there may be a few more accessories to come to justify $50. Look at Earthrise/Kingdo Optimus: a more complex version of the Siege figure with a trailer. As much as I raise eyebrows at how that trailer justifies $20 extra, maybe there’s some engineering within Optimus himself that was too pricey to put as a Voyager figure alone

Do I wish they were still Prime Wars-era sized figures? Yes. Do I miss Prime Wars-era engineering and hollowness/cheap materials? LORDY NO NO NO
