I'm having fun learning about all sorts of obscure Japanese and BotCon exclusive CHUG and Prime Wars retools of mainline figs on the wiki. IDK anything about their characters but they just look pretty freakin' awesome. Some favourites I found:

Whirl and Roadbuster are so cool, their Thrilling 30 toys are great. A recent favorite of mine is Weirdwolf, his colors are so good looking and I love his tail-sword.

Honestly, all the wreckers are cool. Weirdwolf's tail sword and shoulder cannons (missiles?) are pretty cool also.

I'd definitely love to get a new Whirl. His Thrilling 30 toy is still amazing though.

Sky Lynx and the Micromaster Hot Rod patrol, and I was really bummed when we only got half of the latter made in Earthrise.

    Bumper

All I want is new toys of them HasTak. Bumper could be blue, like that unreleased blue Classics Bumblebee we saw, if you wanted to differentiate him more from 'Bee and Hubcap.

The Cybertroian Pin-up model Octane was trying to view in "Starscream's Ghost". It begs the question, does Cybertron has some sort of implied erotica industry.

Should shock no-one but Skids - especially with his short-lived relationship with Charlene. Issue 20 of the original Marvel run, in my opinion, is one of the best issues of the entire series.
Battletrap - for some reason I just liked his original design. I also appreciate Flywheels, and his blink and you miss it appearance in the "Season 4" intro.
    upload_2021-3-22_19-0-12.jpeg
Minerva and Nightbeat - I appreciate them both. I had Nightbeat as a kid and really liked him and played with him a lot. Maybe Nightbeat's numerous cartoon appearances don't exactly make him "obscure", but he still lacks a strong media presence which is a shame since he is basically the Autobot's answer to The Question or Fox Mulder. Lot of untapped potential there. Minerva should also get more recognition for being one of the few early female Transformers, and being the first female toy, AND being one of the few female "gimmick" characters from a sub-line.

Waverider/Landmine/Cloudburst - Although I didn't find out about Metalhawk (who is honestly the best toy of the bunch) until later, I have a soft spot for these guys. I'm rather fond of their comic incarnations, and would've loved to see how the cartoon would handle them. Alas, we never did.
Fortress Maximus (Marvel Comics) - ...was a giant pussy, but an endearing one. He got beat up and blow up a lot, but it made him beating Galvatron all the more satisfying. I also liked the odd-couple approach of having Spike not really liked being bonded to Maximus. Their relationship is a high watermark for the series in the Marvel run.

Sky Lynx, far and away the character most emblematic of Transformers' goofy toyetic roots with a vibrant personality to go with.

Punch/Counterpunch, still a wellspring of untapped opportunity.

Apeface and Snapdragon-- both of them have intelligence stats of 9 but spend the majority of their time acting like morons, and I think there's a lot of comedic opportunity in exploring that. I get the feeling that their intelligence stats aren't a lie, they just act like numbskulls because they think it's funny.

Gutcruncher. He's shown up a few times in IDW2 as part of Swindle's gang but hasn't exactly done anything of note.

The G2 Laser rods. Nothing deep here, I just really like their designs and think there are all sorts of directions you could go with the gimmicks of the toys.

Also the G2 Decepticon Cyberjets. Most of the G2 Decepticons have profiles that begin and end at "is evil" but these guys have a bit more going on. Space Case is incredibly fast but stupid, Hooligan is an irreverent prankster (and also incredibly stupid) and Skyjack is a debonair spy.

Cybershark from Beast Wars. There are a lot of great toy-only designs from BW, but Cybershark stands out immediately because I could easily see him as a goofy, charming, Prince Sidon type.

All of the Vehicon generals from Beast Machines, frankly. Also Botanica. Even discounting the fact that she's really cool on her own merits, a plant Transformer is just a gangbusters concept.

RID01 Scourge, the best take on the Nemesis Prime archetype full stop.

Armada Demolishor, far and away my favorite Decepticon in any fiction.

Cybertron Scourge, a character with a surprising amount of pathos for an otherwise pretty black-and-white show morally speaking. Also makes for two Scourges in the same list! A double whammy!

Animated Lugnut. It's a real shame that for such a beloved character he's kind of faded into the background in recent years.

Skyfall. I had his action master toy and he was my favorite G1 robot design. I envision his jet mode looking really unique and sleek, if he had one...

I love all of the Action Masters. I don't know why Hasbro hasn't given us updated versions in R.E.D.
