I never saw Transformers in theaters. The first time I saw it was in June 2009 to prepare for Revenge of the Fallen. And I really didn't start getting into the franchise until 2010. I saw an opportunity to rent a movie theater out for a private showing and jumped on it. I've seen this movie probably 100 times and there was nothing close to the experience I had last night.

Seeing it on the big screen was like watching it for the very first time. A home entertainment system does not compare to movie theater sound. If you never got to see it before in theaters or want a nostalgia trip, I HIGHLY recommend it. Cinemark has it in some US locations for $99. (I believe through April)

It is true, you can't have a theater-like experience at home.

Reminds me of when the 86 movie came back to theaters a few years back. Such a fun time!

Unfortunately I don't think we could do this in my coutry. But damn I'm surprised how many people of my generation or close to mine have gotten into Transformers around the same time. For me and I bunch of friends it was 2009 as well. First time I discovered the live-action movies. Good times.

Did Optimask Prime say, "Cover your face!" when you entered the theater?

    Super cool, man.

Experiencing the 07 movie in theaters is probably my favorite cinema experience ever. Catalyzed 13 years of fandom for me. Arrival to Earth, Blackout tearing up Qatar, Barricade chasing Bumblebee to the tune of Pretty Handsome Awkward, and Starscream’s hit and run attacks in Mission City were defining moments for me. Definitely the best Transformers film to revisit in my opinion, even from a subjective standpoint (pretty sure it had the best critical reception out of any Transformers movie not named Bumblebee).

I remember seeing the 2007 movie in theaters. i went with a dozen of my friends, half of them there solely to see my reaction to the movie. I apparently did not disappoint. :D

I'm glad you were able to finally experience the movie on the big screen! I've had the pleasure of seeing every TF movie (including the 86 movie) on the big screen but the first film may have been the most impactful for me. I'm a strong supporter of the cinema experience (so long as there's no annoying patrons watching it with you) and it definitely enhances the film.

This is freakin' awesome. Seeing Transformers 1 in theaters was one of the most exhilarating experiences I've ever had, and I ended up seeing it 3 more times in theaters after that.

Did you have to provide a copy of the movie, or do they have it on hand? I'm wondering if they're projecting from a media player or actually have a film reel for best quality.

They had it. A lot of Cinemarks are showing it for the private screenings offer so maybe (?) but I'm not sure. Either way it looked great lol

That sounds really great. I never saw the first film outside of cable tv and blu ray, so it would be pretty cool to revisit like the first 3 films. I'd sit through all the horrible shit in RotF on an IMAX screen if it meant I could see the extended Forest Battle in an environment like that.

After I saw the first movie at my local theater, I saw it again that fall when it had a special IMAX re-release (it didn't get released in IMAX initially because it flew a little under the radar prior to it becoming a big deal upon release).

After that, I made it my mission to see each sequel in the same theater - the Lincoln Center NYC IMAX which is the biggest screen on the East Coast. And I have... love seeing the IMAX aspect ratio in full swing, although it was a mess in TLK.

Agreed. I watched it not only in theatres, but in theatres during Botcon '07. Best decision ever! (also, first and only Botcon I went to)
