Banking is an entirely metric based institution. If Sam’s sister can’t pay, she can’t pay. Heartless as the refusal is, if the math doesn’t check out, there’s no viable way for them to give the money out.

I liked this episode as a slow burn to show us where these characters are right now and a glimpse at how that while the good guys won and those snapped out of existence are back, the world didn't snap back to normal. Seeing the bank deny the loan to a hero and his sister is completely realistic. Banks are slow to change... unless it helps THEM. Sam knowing how to fix Redwing was a nice touch... really glad they don't have him talking to actual birds...

Seeing what Bucky has been up to was great, but heart breaking seeing him willing put himself in that friendship to TRY to make up for what he did in his past. I'm interested to see how he deals with the new Captain America being announced...

Also, fuck that politician that congratulated Sam on handing over the shield.

Well in the comics when Steve died and Iron Man kept the Shield, he went on a rampage to get it back.

Though I expect Falcon to stop him before he goes too far.

And since they have been borrowing heavily from ed brubaker in the previous movies, I'm expecting a similar reaction.

Man so what happened to Sebastian Stan? It looks like he dropped 30 pounds since Civil War? Unless his costume is all padding?

I think the costume has a lot of padding in previous films. When I've watched him in other series (Once in particular) he's never looked particularly buff.

Biggest difference to me is the haircut, its why I assume no one recognises him. He's cut and styled his hair and while he looks melancholy he doesn't have that empty, haunted look he had as Winter Soldier.

    I enjoyed the episode.

It started with a pretty epic sky chase and a taste of what the winter soldier was capable of so it wasn’t completely devoid of action like some are suggesting.

I personally like it when the lives of super hero’s are grounded in mundanity as captain America would have been boring and smug if he hadn’t developed his urge to never give in to bullying and stand up for little guy from being beat up and relentlessly bullied growing up. Seeing both main characters have to battle with more relatable things like trying to stop your family fall into financial disarray or dealing with the guilt from ptsd i feel these things are going to have more of an impact on viewers when things do start to escalate than bland supernatural and alien threats.

People seem to be forgetting that wandavision whilst it was dressed up in surreal day time tv parody and magic it was also pretty grounded in ordinary every day struggles like grief and the yearning for connection with a family.

As many of us pointed out the banking system lacks that.

A lot of people didn't seem to enjoy the episode because "not enough happened."

These series are meant to be more about character-building instead of world-building (obviously there will be some of that). Also, the nature of episodic television means that whatever "happens" in the story arc is broken up over several installments.

Take the shows for what they are, and they're much more enjoyable.

Great start and can't wait to see where it goes.

Flagsmashers still bother me, but maybe they'll do something with their look. Like their political take in this though.

I know, but it doesn't mean I can't call them out for it, especially in a fictional world.

Stan looks fine I think and his costume had a lot of patting I think.

People have noticed how much skinnier he looks in recent interviews.

So this could mean two things, he’s preparing for a role that required him to loose wait OR we’re looking at another Boseman situation... I’m hoping it’s the former.

Some might think it wildly uncouth to speculate on a couple pounds lost on a man to terminal cancer, but not you!

Well I’m just repeating what I saw in comments on this interview. Some thought he also seemed tired. I mean it could anything, something or nothing.

I wasn’t sure of that until you just showed what Tommy Lee looked like, so now I’m convinced that’s it.

Dear God, I hope Sebastian Stan is being well payed for this.
