I like the trailer as an upgrade like Powermaster OP, but it should also have the required repair bay/base mode.

I grew up on the UT so it's always weird not seeing Optimus with a super mode.

I like the super mode aspect of the trailers. Every time Optimus got his super mode, it was almost always a moment of, “Why do I hear boss music?”

My memory is a little foggy from lack of sleep, so I'm not sure if it's the walmart or chronicles variation of the dark of the moon deluxe OP.

I initially regretted buying the chronicles set because it was overpriced and came with an unnecessary to me extra G1 OP cab. Yadda yadda yadda. My encore G1 prime eventually rubbed off a lot of paint (From adult handling/storage?!) So I dug out the chronicles one this year to "replace" it and bonus...

Chronicles G1 OP pulls the earthrise trailer perfectly. It's a slight remold with a hole inside the "trailer hitch" bump. So actually all three cabs/trailers are mildly interchangeable. Earthrise prime even has a triangle groove that can tow the g1 trailer and let it make turns. Neat!

As cool as it was, my issue was it was too G1 and boxy and didnt fit the aesthetic of classics prime. Its why i went with that other 3p trailer that was widely available and now have no clue who made it or its name

I regret not buying one back then.

I’m okay with OP not having a trailer anymore. ER OP proved that Hasbro can’t do a proper one for a reasonable price.
I think the best trailer-armored OP was the Cybertron OP figure (the original). I also regret not getting that one back then.

Definitely the base/repair bay. It added a lot of fun play value for me as a kid and I still dig it today. It was a huge part of my excitement for Earthrise Optimus. I would really like a WFC Powermaster Optimus Prime too so there's that.

I have one repair bay trailer, with Earthrise Optimus, and I'm glad I have it, it represents G1 Prime and that's nice. I also have one that came with Dead Prime, and I dunno man, what the hell am I supposed to do with this thing. I'm good, the position of repair bay has been filled, if I have a trailer on another toy I want it to interact with the toy in some way and not just be a big honkin' accessory.

Still worth it for sure IMO. By now it's compatible with: Classics OP, ToyWorld IDW OP, Siege OP, and even SS38 OP. (if you plug the little included pistol upside down on SS38 OP's hitch) I wouldn't be surprised if it even fits on ER OP somehow. And its intended Classics OP is still great IMO, especially if you also get the Shapeways upgrade that gives him wrist swivels and double-axis ankle joints.

That would be the e-Hobby Chronicle Optimus Prime, aka DOTM Deluxe OP with a new trailer packed with a G1 OP. Not to be confused with the Takara DOTM trailer which came with a retooled DOTM Voyager OP which transforms like the G1 trailer. I had no idea it was compatible with Asian mcdonalds toys though. 0_0

So, uh, to actually answer the question I like repair bays best, l think. All of them. The best upgraded bots are Power Master Optimus (duh) or Omega Prime tbh.

I don't have the newest mp prime to compare, but I have mp10 and 04. The MP1 prime is already huge, so his trailer is thusly imposing. I remember my mind being blown at the time that it could fit an Alternator inside. It's not objectively that exciting of a plastic, silver box, but it's my favorite and the first toy that really made me feel good about dropping serious money on a seriously awesome Transformer. No buyer's remorse, very rare for me. G1 Prime's trailer is of course iconic, and I fussed with mine enough to wear paint off the cab so I love that most of all. I actually really, really like Earthrise Prime, even the mildly disappointing trailer, but not the best. PM OP is amazing and probably my number 3 favorite. My childhood prime. POTP OP is mostly awful. I kinda like the oddball G2 tree hater and Machine Wars trailers, but mostly because they're weird and have that strange g2 vibe like they were designed in an alternate universe where Beast Wars was never a thing. I have the FP g3 trailer, but for some reason I never, ever got over the stripe looking backwards. Plus it's joints everywhere with a dull interior and better in theory mirror mode.

I bought the Star Convoy reissue yeeeears ago because of Hot Rod. No regrets there. Prime feels like a crappy evolution from PM OP. Not my favorite and his friends are too pricy for me.

Armada is a mixed bag, but his interaction with jetfire and overload is pretty great. That articulation, though. Energon is more of that, but slightly worse. Wing Saber helps a lot. I really didn't like Cybertron's Upgrade boots. The movie trailers are lame and empty, except the mcdonalds one which is... strange.

After G1, PM, MPs and Earthrise, my favorite OP figure set is probably Omega Prime. RID Ultra Magnus and Prime have like 4 unique and awesome robot modes to mess with, both are good looking and have minimum kibble, decent articulation (barring UM), etc.

Remember BW wasn't quite as loved back then. Transmetals felt like a disappointment all across the board to me. The show was worse than BW, toys were odd... how do you segue from a show about animal robots to car robots smoothly? A rat with wheels, apparently. Also guerrilla/gorilla warfare is just not that clever. I know I was thirsty af for a "real" Optimus Prime, not another quardipedal beast to bipedal robot. RID delivered the goods, all while being unique from G1 or anything prior. Even the superbot face sculpts look odd, but still cool. People would burn down the Hasbro headquarters if a new prime had that head today. Say goodbye to life on earth if they forgot ankle tilts or made it too tall or short compared to six other toys from the previous 2-10 years of collecting.

The trailer is an integral part of what optimus prime represents for me; it’s an absolute must have accessory to the point i will never buy an op without it.
Earthrise Op has a tiny insulting trailer I wonder what hasbro has in mind when delivery that; fortunately i had the kbb voyager sized mp10 and the trailer i just regretting i lose all the ports and air lock system.

that said on optimus prime i like most the classic base mode while the armor is mostly an ultra magnus thing also i think the armor could be also used in a way potp did for rodimus prime buffing hot rod look.

If I ever wrote a Transformers show, it'd have a gag that explains where his trailer goes by having it turn out that it's a hologram. It'd make a lot of people really mad. That's why I love the idea.

Base/weapons rack. Armada “Turbo Trousers” Prime soured me to the idea of a combining trailer.
