Transformers Animated Spittor There’s been quite a bit of love for Animated in 3D Printed projects lately and I’m glad to have one added to the list. Painted I’ve given Spittor a bit of a Neon orange, which contrasted nicely with the dark blue. Was a pain to apply. The tongues are out at the moment to dry but they are threaded with metal wires and can retract into the mouth as an option of display. Version 1 I started off giving Spittor quite enormous legs, but after having them printed and assembled, he lost that hulking/ hunchback look that I wanted to achieve and the look that he had in the show. So I shrunk his legs down and did some proportion control. Another thing that was needed badly was heels. With the figure hunched, it became really front heavy and wouldn’t want to stand in the desired pose. All was corrected in V2. I’m now at the stage of redoing his cannons, as they tab onto his legs and then onto the top of the frog to secure the alt mode as a blocky frog. This animated style is an absolute joy to work with, but I think I’ll stick with slightly smaller bots next time. Ill put more updates as the blasters come along. Thanks for reading!
Thanks! Maybe one day! I’ve loved his appearance, don’t think I’ll be making a TFA Cyclonus anytime soon though. Bit burnt out on Cyclonus from the MTMTE one. But looking at the animated love so far, a 3D printed TFA Cyclonus doesn’t seem too far away.
Yes I will. I’m working on another project at the moment but soon I will. I’ve still got a few things to mess with here as well.
Cheers! thanks for this. I do agree. However due to the material I’m using at the moment I’m only comfortable making his chest this big and the legs this small. I believe if I make the legs any smaller he’ll topple over since he’d be extremely front heavy. So given my small amount of limitations I’m happy with where I’m at now, although if I had access to a mix of materials I might change something up in the future.
Makes me wish Animated had come out in an age where the CAD-ready retools were so prevalent. I think the line may have been better for it. I could easily see Grimlock retooled into Spittor.
If it's possible, if there's time, and if it isn't any pain, I'd love to see an update! But if this is the final version, I'll take it! It's so nice to see some 3D printed Animated love again.
This painted one is the final update. However I’m away from home for a while and I had forgotten to take frog mode pics of him. Once I get some other things done I’ll put him up on Cults3D
