One of the most enduring aspects of Transformers is Optimus Prime, and his mysterious disappearing trailer.

But when it comes to the plastic, how do your prefer your trailers to be handled?

Do you go for the classic repair bay/weapons platform/mini-base setup?

Maybe you're more a fan of the super-robot upgrade armor styled trailer that combines with ol' OP?

Are you more into the rarer, but still valid, integrated transformation that just has the trailer transform with him as part of his standard transformation?

Or would you rather save on plastic, space, and money, and just have your Optimus's with no trailer at all?

Personally, I'm usually a fan of Super Armor trailers, like Cybertron, or POTP (although I think maybe that one more qualifies as an integrated transformation?). I find that the base setups just take up too much space, and I'll usually go for an option that doesn't include them in the price tag if it's available.

if he needs a trailer it needs to be reasonably big. a nicely done, properly scaled troop carrier or the g1 base are my preferred setup, but barring that a jetpack or a realistic trailer is fine by me.

I don't think Hasbro has ever released a decent Optimus Prime trailer since his G1 toy. Okay, maybe the MP-10 trailer. Don't have 44 so can't speak for that.

Fansproject G3 Trailer from like a decade ago is perfect compared to everything that Hasbro has put out. The invisible mode/disappearing trailer gimmick is pretty clever.

If I recall, MSRP for that was like 30-40 bucks, and they still had a hard time giving it away.

    Not present.

I have a cabinet full of trailers I never use, haha. But if I HAD to pick one, I'd prefer them as a repair bay/base.

Umm yeah I don't know how to vote in that poll. Generally I don't really care for trailers. If he did have one definitely have to go with the power up option, either PMOP or Cybertrons "BAHAHAHA EVERYTHING SHALL DIE AT MY FEET!!!!!!!!!!".

Then, I’d imagine he’d leave it somewhere. Fight. Finally, come back to it miles away.

I’d like it if the entire trailer became it’s own robot called “Roller”.

and yes, of course it can combine with Optimus in bot mode. To a point where bonus points if both are technically weaponizers.

Huh... that's actually a really cool idea. I'm... actually kinda surprised they've never tried that before.

I like my trailers like I like my women: boxy, containing hidden defenses, and able to hitch up to anything...

No wait, none of that is true. The first option, repair bay/weapons platform/mini base. I had G1 Optimus as a kid, that's what his trailer is to me.

Either it forms armor or it goes in the parts bin. I do like the idea of the trailer just being a separate figure altogether though. Kind of like Godbomber I guess.

I prefer the armor route. Regular Trailers just get boring. They're is not much variance in designs.

Honestly, I prefer super robot armor but I'll take a repair bay/base/weapons platform too.

Base mode or weapons platform. The concept of a trailer becoming Armada-style super pants or armor never really sat well with me for a number of reasons, either aesthetically or conceptually. If someone like Armada Prime has a trailer that makes him more powerful, why do they never use that all the time?

Y'all are spoiled. Back in my day, we had an empty trailer and we liked it.

And it interacted with Asian exclusive McDonald's toys.

So Optimus Prime can deliver the Number 1.

    For some reason.

You don't wear lingerie to the bar, dude. You gotta flirt a little first before you show him the goods. Maybe they're just not worth the effort of putting on a nice pair of Jetfire pants or a Wingsaber vest.

(Edit: this is why Ultra Magnus is a total square and goes on to be the villain in the Beavis and Butthead movie)
