Is there any thing else you can tell us about the animated film? Like are they going for a more G1 style design or a more FoC/prime style design? Have you or your friends seen any of the concept art?

 

If you're talking about who I think you're talking about, he was pretty much revealed to be a phony by the mods. And some of the stuff he said ended up being contradicted by Rik Alvarez a few months later in those TFCon panels (the "insider" claimed TFP Unicron was created as a test run for TLK, but Alvarez said it was the TFP studio who created the idea, and the movieverse just followed suit).

But I hope this guy is real, it's always cool to have people with legit inside info. Although I could have done without the plot for Bumblebee being leaked half a year in advance. I love how that guy was able to give us info regarding changes from the early screening, but I didn't enjoy having to dodge spoilers from July until December. I hope that doesn't happen again with this movie.

 

The lore and world building was never the issue, the directing, annoying characters, re-use of the same plot over and over again, and writing were.

 

I have messaged SilverOptimus and will wait until I have spoken with them before speaking too much more. The last thing I want to do is unnecessarily get everyone's hopes up for naught. I will just say for now that everything I currently know comes from pre-production documents, meetings, and materials, which can have variances from the final products. Please keep that in mind when asking specific questions (if I continue to share after being in contact with the mods).

 

This can be both a good or a bad thing depending on who is picked.

While writers and directors having more freedom sounds great, if their vision sucks and there's no one to reel them in it will simply lead to disaster. Hopefully we don't end up with another Transformers Prime here.

That's something else I was gonna say: it doesn't have to be one or the other, both lore and the characters can be a strength if done right.

 

Dude I don’t want to be a party pooper but if you’re sharing proprietary information, you are putting your friends’ jobs in jeopardy and exposing them to a lawsuit. I wouldn’t. And frankly, I don’t want Paramount to change direction on something cool because it’s been leaked without authorization.

 

Something I want to personally clarify, as I don't think I made it very clear earlier: the word "lore" was never spoken to me, and from my knowledge of the film industry, I don't think Paramount execs were tossing that word around either. I just wanted to emphasize that the old way of approaching new stories was to begin with an idea--whether it was an idea found in a reference book or something like that--whereas now almost every starting point is character-based. Sorry if I caused confusion.

I absolutely understand that worry. That is why I have avoided anything too specific. I have received permission from my "sources" to post what I have thus far.

 

I prefer a more serious approach to transformers.

 

I’d say a mix is good. Make some lighthearted movies or more standard tone movies and then have a one off style movie that ends up being a darker tone. If you can do rogue one and kill everyone off, or Joker where it goes full on nuts, I want to see something semi similar to last stand of the wreckers.

 

This. There's no reason why every TF film theatrical or otherwise has to stick to either one tone or another. Franchises like Godzilla, TMNT, and Batman have proven that can have a mixture of both dark and light hearted stories existing with one another. No reason why it can't be the same for Transformers.

 

I don't know why this popped into my head, but I just realized if the working title is Beast Alliance, what if it's a spin on the old "Call of the Primitives" episode? G1 characters that all have animal alt modes are called to help with something. That might almost make sense.

This appears to be a fan account with a link to Paramount to make it appear more "authentic".

 

Could go either way at this point. It isn't unheard of for authentic social media accounts to pop up on the down-low a bit ahead of official announcements. It's also an easy way to make a fake leak. We'll just have to wait and see.

If it's real, we should hear something soon.

 

Isn't "Beast Alliance" just the working title? It seems unlikely they'd set up social media pages for that.
