Similar reasoning behind Masterpiece figures that are deluxe or voyager height, they certainly aren't priced as deluxes and voyagers, granted then there's all the extra Masterpiece paint and accessories, but the point still stands.

We don't do that here. That takes common sense, and you know how rare that is nowadays.

Rodimus is great. The only shared ideas from ss86 I see is how the pipes flip around with the red panel to cover up the hands, and maaaaybe how the remaining piping and rear wheels hide in the leg. Otherwise its all new and I'm all for it. Gimme preorders hasbro

So why is MP sunstreaker, the size of voyager cyclonus, over $100 and not $30? parts count. Engineering. Paint. It all adds up. so yes, thats exactly what justifies the price. Dont buy it if you dont want it, but dont base your opinions on false information

Hasbro is the company that makes the call to raise prices for certain releases. Extra plastic or added engineering in said releases are reasons why.

Gotta love it when someone is talking completely out of their ass and proceeds to insult everyone else.
A quick glance at his post history shows him to not really have anything of worth to contribute so on the block list they go. That list has swelled because of this thread.

As someone with actual experience in the industry, engineering and materials are literally what drives up costs.

As someone who buys the product. I’ll pay more for a better product rather than settle for mediocre

Don't think for a moment however they won't try to get away with giving you less for more, if you will agree to pay for it. Not everything is a perfect alignment of costs, some of it is overreach. Why make 10% on top when you can make 15%?

Without internal numbers, we don't know for sure what figures are good deals or bad deals. But we can tell if something is good value to us.

Granted we need to see more, but right now this does not appear to hold the value the prior two Commanders did. The unpainted wheels alone are absolutely inexcusable to not be budgeted for in a $80 release which is the second costliest product to market for Hasbro.

While I know what you are trying to say, I can pretty much guarantee that there isn’t a single person at Hasbro (outside of the executive board, but that’s a whole other thing) attempting to give the customer or consumer “less for more.” It’s a completely degenerate strategy that has no efficacy outside of financial markets.

More than that, the actual people in the trenches doing the design and sculpt work are probably being increasingly driven to do more with less. Find ways to achieve more at lower costs, find ways to work with lower budgets without disappointing fans, find ways to improve the brand that don't push the bottom line. If you think they don't want to make the same amazing things you want them to make, you're almost certainly wrong. But it's a question of what's been put at their disposal, and what corporate higher ups are willing to shell out for.

A lot of what gets called lazy design on these boards is actually driven by people who have nothing to do with the actual making or design of the toys. They sit in boardrooms and demand more revenue at less cost. That's not on the design team. They probably spend a fair bit of time trying to salvage their original goals and intent when confronted with demands to slash features and costs to design/production. I imagine, in a perfect world free from corporate budgets and the reality of corporate, business and economic factors that the designers would love to create the perfect versions of many of these characters too. But that doesn't mean that they will be able to get everything they want to see past all the approvals and budget gurus.

I pulled my Titan Returns Galvatron off of the shelf for the first time in ages. I decked him out with Toyhax decals and their crown... I wanted to like it. I'd say that I'm so ready to replace it... but I was so ready to replace it five years ago.

Kingdom Galvatron cannot arrive soon enough for me.
