I feel the new movie will pull me back in just as I'm trying to extract myself from it much in the way the mandalorian dragged me back kicking and screaming to star wars but to which I became obsessed again with the saga.

    This coukd be interesting

As long as they take inspiration from FoC and the BM Vehicons, I\'m fine.

One of them is Shane Baxley. He designed most of the vehicles for TF5.

My guess would be for Cybertronian modes in a flashback (similar to Bumblebee's opening), but who knows. Could be a character throughout who stays in their Cybertronian mode.

Yeah, I never particularly loved the Bayverse Cybertronian modes. They didn't really have a lot of overall form to them. I feel like they often came across less like vehicles and more like borderline abstract blobs. Which is cool in concept, but isn't really my cup of tea. Some were better than others (ROTF Megatron was okay, and TLK Megatron was probably the best), but I definitely prefer the more streamlined approach that stuff like Bumblebee and the Cybertron games took. Those vehicles might have looked less alien, but at least they were easier on the eyes.

Oh, good. I loved Shane Baxley's work on Bumblebee.

    My wishful thinking has:

"It is the year 2075. Humans have pilfered Cybertronic technology from the being called Unicron hiding within their planet and have advanced their civilization. The world's energy crisis has also been solved thanks to a bountiful new kind of Energon harvested from Unicron's horns. The Autobots cautiously assist the governments of the world since it appears that global peace has been mostly achieved. But Megatron and the Decepticons know the secret behind this new energy and seeks to exploit alongside nefarious human entities it to gain control of Earth and create a new Cybertron with humans as slaves."

Personally, I\'d rather have an animated feature film.  But, I digress...

I mean, he designed stuff for Bumblebee too. Artists don't get to choose how they design their art. It pretty much depends on what the director wants.

For example, these two drastically different Prime designs are from the same artist (Josh Nizzi):

Yes I'm sure the vehicle artist is equally to blame for TF5, uhuh.

Awesome, thanks for responding with a rational reply. Really bugs me how people blame the artists for shit when it's the director calling most of the shots.

I really don\'t want futurist vehicles - I want robots that transform believably into earth vehicles and make some attempts to disguise themselves.

Huh. I’ve still got that Jetstorm somewhere... Say what you will about Beast Machines, but you have to admit it had some interesting characters.

Ah, fair enough. Here’s hoping the director wants something other than “generic looking spaceship #5”

What wrong with them? Those are supposed to be alien, not "futuristic"

Worked on Star Wars? That's not really saying much these days in my opinion. Especially with how generic the ships in the sequel-era films looked.

Hopefully it's more of a point in right direction type of thing, where the artists source off their material from stuff like High Moon's cybertron games' concept art. Now that'd be a dream.
