IMO the scale seems fairly accurate but...not for the combiners. They’re like smaller in the chart, while they are bigger in the cartoon?

For example, Bruticus (Starscream’s brigade) was way bigger in the toon - Starscream could stand on his shoulder, while the former was “crushing” Megatron in one of his hands?

In another episode, the combiners (Key to Vector Sigma) were towering over the other TFs...like Bruticus did.

The only time the combiners’ size were all over the place was in season 3. Example, 5 faces of darkness and return of Optimus Prime.

*Drats...I suddenly feel like some G1 nutter...that’s what I get from watching repeated episodes with my kids and nephews! X)

Yeah I agree Hasbro definitely needs to leave that paint slop alone (Now printed on paint slop). If people want their figures to look fucked up they can do it themselves.

I think it's hard to please all fans. When I was reading posts on the previous versions of the Grimlock toys (whether it is hasbro or 3p made); you do occasionally get people complaining about Grimlock not having a "gold/yellow" neck. My guess would be Hasbro tries to please those people. On a side note, I read it somewhere that people are complaining about Grimlocks arms being proportionally too long (bot mode) but that is probably Hasbro tries to respond to the fans who complained about the shoulders being set too high (again with the previous Hasbro and 3p made versions). Isn't it great that the current 86 design more or less agrees with the transformation sequence as the toon? Or you prefer to have a totally different transformation compare to the toon? As for the hollow wrist; it is clear that Hasbro don't see that kind of complain as an issue. I don't buy a lot of Masterpiece figures; only buy the characters that I like. I have the mp21 bumblebee and its forearms are hollow out also without any kind of official covers... If Hasbro can do it on their masterpiece then I'm sure that they don't mind doing the same on their main line stuff.

Galvatron looks... okay, though the upper torso looks a bit over-bulked perhaps.

I like it, but for the life of me, I just do not understand why toys consistently choose the worst shade of Galvatron's purple. Sure depending on the cartoon, he had many different shades, but the best one was the one he sported in the movie, and really only FansToys got it right, on the second go.

Simpler transformation isn't necessarily a bad thing, SS86GM's transformation is pretty decent. Regardless, Masterpiece still blows SS86 out of the water in terms of quality and I can't compare the two without seeing the SS86 as something a third party KO company would have made back at the time MPGM was released.

It can be argued that MP21-BB's hollow wrist syndrome is at least justifiable because there's no space for the flaps in such a tightly-compacted transformation for such a tiny figure that has half his hand bulge out when folded in. Hollow wrist syndrome just becomes an obvious penny-pinching technique when it's applied to figures like SS86 Grimlock who clearly has a lot of open space where a wrist panel could have gone into, let alone other figures such as Siege/Netflix Soundwave, Earthrise Grapple/Kingdom Inferno, and so on. You know, the ones that now have third party upgrade kits just to cover for Hasblow's recent addiction for hollow bits.

P.S. Let's not forget Hoist and Trailbreaker, whose hands don't even swivel into their wrists and they STILL get hollow wrists!

Oh snap, that's awesome. I had assumed it might as well have been 100% hollow within, but now I'm now a bit baffled as to why the inner part would be moulded as such when it clearly isn't meant to be seen. Future redeco with bits cast in transparent plastic, perhaps? Most likely for a 'vintage G1 toy deco' edition I suppose.

Question. Did Galvatron II/ Marvel Galvatron ever lead Scourge and Cyclonus. I want to group the three together on my shelf. If there is going to be a G1 toy color repaint, IMO the purple version would work best with Scourge and Cyclonus.

I blame the many unofficial ripoffs (that people euphemistically call third-party) for that. Certain folks here are so used to unrealistic standards that they demand them from a regular release toy too.

    This. So much this.
The last time we got grimlock and Galvatron , those are atrocious. Now that the mainline has improved so much and almost at MP level at much more affordable price , the fandom piss on it just because "not high quality enough". What quality , when some of you still say TR is much better than this?

I mean that’s not really Hasbro’s fault. I understand that you might not like the fact that Galvatron has the two ships but you really can’t use the fact that you bought an unofficial figure as a reason to be upset that Hasbro included something similar in their official toy. It’s not like they pay attention to every single third party figure and use that to decide what figures to make

If I recall correctly, Galvatron’s appearances were limited to:

    1. US comics

    i. movie adaptation

ii. Alternate reality. Comics Galvatron came from alternate reality where Unicron won. Interestingly, Rodimus is mentioned as the “strongest” of the Primes? I believe this is the first instance where its implied there is a lineage of Primes in the original G1 comics.

From there “our” Unicron (different from the animated movie) plucks the above version (didn’t take his minions) to do his work. This Galvatron then interacts with the TFs in the original US G1 comics.

Galvatron’s other appearance is a cartoon adaption from “The Big Broadcast if 200X” (?) from season 3.

    2. UK Comics

After being thrown out by Rodimus (in the movie), this Galvatron never took a lava bath (unlike in season 3). Instead he does a “time jump” to present day earth.

This Galvatron is insanely powerful and the UK comics made him one of the major antagonists in the series. At one stage, Ultra Magnus has a mental breakdown (of sorts) after experiencing multiple defeats against him.

Oh yeah, both US and UK Galvatron uses the toy colours. Hope that helps!

I missed this earlier, and I just want to say that I need this ASAP. Really hope the actual figure lives up to this.

I'm not sure about the quality differences and whether "one blows the other out of the water" between the two (MP and SS86) since I'm not an expert on plastic. Having said that for me personally, I find that the SS86 is more "durable" (maybe not, since you claim the MP is better quality) I can very much flipping it between the two modes (bot and alt) without worrying too much of breakage. On the other hand, regardless which MP it is, I would hesitate to transform them multiple times because in my mind they are both selling at a different price point and due to this reason I find it comparing the two (MP and SS86) is like comparing apple to oranges.

There are plenty of main line bots that use this method to fold their fists during transformation and many of them don't have covers. Most of the time, it seems like you would get the cover if it is "functional". For example, Kingdom Cyclonus has its forearms all covered up, since these covers are for tabs during transformation. As for MP21 Bee; whether it is justifiable is really depends on who you talk to; I do see quite a few people complaining about this on different forums. Hasbro worked out a way to included it on the second version so why can't they do the same for version 1. I can't blame them; it is what it is. But I only point this out because it is supposed to be from the masterpiece line. For me, I rather not to spend more on the figure and make them part forming.

P.S. I never own Hoist and Trailbreaker (I just have no interest in them) so I can't really comment on them. Maybe adding covers on them makes no functional differences (just a wild guess) like I said earlier.

This is NOT FAIR. It wasn\'t \"Galvatron\'s Armada.\"
WHY DOES GALVATRON GET TO HAVE AN ARMADA?
WHEN DOES CYCLONUS GET HIS FRAKKIN\' ARMADA?!?

G1 toy colors seem set in stone. I've seen Energon Megatron brought up, but I've seen people go back on forth if he's actually rumored or not, and I don't know for sure since there is so much to keep track of.
