Only John Hasbro, laughing at our bitching about it once again, knowing full well it's a largely unpopular deco choice and pressing on with it like the ultimate troll, can answer that one. Maybe that is the answer? That and the numerous repaints they could produce.

You're not the only one. TR Galvatron is unfairly criticised over the unnecessary HM gimmick but pop a new head on that baby and he's golden. Like, TR is very stylized, but still very much Galvatron that they took some liberties on.

I look at Kingdom Galvatron like I do 86 Grimlock. It's undeniably G1 Grimlock, in both modes, literally the Grimlock that I've always wanted and asked for and bought him on sight. But design-wise, I really love and play with more my Ultimate Cyberverse Grimlock (with some slight mods). Very stylized with the heroic proportions (small waist/broad chest n shoulders/massive arms etc) and huuuuge, bigger than even 86Grimmy. Huge claws and fist spikes, he's fun as hell and intimidating.

That's how I feel about this Galvatron. He's more or less exactly like Galvatron should be and I want him yet I like the artistic license they took with TR Galvatron.

 

Unicron gave him spaceship guns.

 

Looks questionable in some areas, but overall I'm pretty happy with this figure. I think the official pictures (assuming they aren't mistransformed) will look better.

 

I want space ship guns. One shaped like a Klingon Bird of Prey... and another shaped like a Shadow vessel.

It's better than Universe Deluxe Galvatron, or TR Galvatron, heck even looks better than the Superlink Galvatron I have hunted for like 5 years. This will be "THE" Galvatron in my collection.

 

A plasma bath on Thrull would play havoc with anyone's shiny new paint job so no wonder he has 'battle damage'.

Or he did it to himself after going nuts straight afterwards.

I do want to mention, I like the facesculpt. I know people have a problem with it, but I'm really liking how similar it is to Megatron. A lot of toys give him a very different face and generally making him feel disconnected from Megs physically, outside of the fusion cannon. The faces being very similar is a nice touch, almost like he's in a new suit of armor.

Maybe he has a face-swap gimmick. The helmet could lift up and his face rotates?
That, or they save that face for the Marvel comics Galvy.

 

Battle damage is a really questionable, weird choice, but super easily removed with a Q tip and some thinner.

Really, really can't wait for this guy for the SS86 shelf!
