If only it was that easy. I suspect Hasbro isn't sitting on a large pile of replacement parts. I would half expect them to just offer a partial refund and an apology if people start having QC issues.

 

I have it on authority from a reliable source that some form of support will be offered for Unicron owners in the event of defects.

Unfortunately, I believe this support is limited to customers in the United States and/or backers.

 

Apparently Kevin Lukis, the owner of Unicron.com, got an interview with Ben Montano who works at Hasbro.

Haven't watched the whole video but they do discuss the maw.

I'd love to know if that colour is a perfect match. Could do with knowing what was used (watched video on silent while on a work call, so if the colour is mentioned please do tell me!)

I'm thinking about the maw and what paint might be appropriate. I expect LEK will have mixed, but if there's a legit off the shelf option then that would be great.

Started playing around to make room for the big boy in planet mode!!














I definitely have room to wiggle / edit ... now we wait for movement on the shipping  

 

Over the weekend, I placed on order for a small batch of oranges and yellows (plus some white since I was running low  ). I'll let folks know if some combination of them cuts the mustard once the big banana gets here.

here is my piece zoomed out, as you can see, its exactly the same section.

 

everything i have done thus far has been non-destructive.
nothing was done to make any apparent damage worse.

 

i have done a few spray outs already and i think i got damn close. the color of the orange is a strange one because it has a creamy look to it. the camera is catching the colors differently the way the light catches it. but in person i feel like i am there.

but i am definitely happy with were i am. the center spoon is a blend of the 2 colors.

 

That's a pretty good match. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

Looking GREAT!  I don't feel the match even needs to be that perfect, since the maw part is not on the same plane as the other orange pieces and so won't receive light in the same way. Any minor difference in shade can be read as a difference in how light is hitting the piece.

But why so coy? What paint did you use? Dish!

One recommendation: if you got a TF junker sitting around, prime it up and paint a piece of it with your mixes. In my experience, colors can *sometimes* show up differently on spoons given the way their surfaces properties differ from TF plastic and such.
