Hmm. Are these really leaks if they come from official sources? At least the Voyager wave 3 of Netflix came from Walmart's site.

I thought Deepcover was part of the Selects line. Oh well.... Not that pressed for any of this wave regardless.

I think you're being too harsh on the original toy just to talk up the new one. For its time Cheetor was exceptionally well-articulated, and the proportions are not that bad at all, really just the cheetah head being really bulky. It also had a really strong sculpt for the time, though the mould made more sense as Tigatron, since it was more of generic big cat than a cheetah. The fur texture, IMO, is still superior to the Kingdom one which looks very flat and smooth. Also, for all its articulation Kingdom Cheetor is barely any more posable than the original since its forelegs can't bend much at the knee/elbow (I had to carve plastic from the joints on mine) and the rear legs are more or less sculpted into a static pose and can't really bend or move in any useful way. It also lacks any sort of head movement, which further decreases the poses you can get him in.

As for the robot mode, the original wins in terms of proportions easily. The legs especially are even and nicely proportioned, unlike Kingdom's oversized lower legs and itty bitty feet. (not to mention the cheetah legs just sitting there) There's also the issue of the torso being in that awkward T shape, with no mass in the chest outside of the cheetah head. At least on the original the bulk of the cheetah head filled out to the sides, making the core of the robot look proportioned. He also has far more articulated arms and useful weapons, unlike Kingdom's lame tail whip it shouldn't even have.

The original Cheetor is a better toy for 1996 than Kingdom is for 2021 for sure, and still has merit as a highly articulated, fun toy you can play with. It also has nice, vibrant colours and lots of paint, unlike the desaturated blue of Kingdom and the missing paint apps on the Netflix version. I wouldn't say Kingdom Cheetor is a bad toy myself, I quite like it in many ways, but I can see why people would compare it to the original and not be satisfied. Kingdom just looks bland, skinny, and unimpressive.

 

Annnddd....just got talked into Primal by my son. "I could put your old primal, rattrap, and Cheetor on my book case in beast mode. Then we could show both modes!"
Started the week with $125-150 budgeted for TM reissues and was excited I saved all that when I found out it was just originals. Then I put $30 on G2 Ramjet, spent $40 on some siege stuff at Ollies, and will now have to factor in $60 on NF deluxes, and now $80 on NF Voyagers. Somehow I've went from positive $150 to negative $60. I might as well just buy Rusty Barry.
