I received Skylynx finally but I noticed the anatomy was a little wonky. He was suffering from the typical "toy cat syndrome" aka inverted rear legs. I did the following, swapped the left leg for the right at the mushroom peg below the hip. opened the calf clamshells on both sides (careful with ratchet detents they fall out), swap the tread paws from left to right and finally reassembled. Took minutes, barely messes with the shuttle carrier mode (flatness of treads) and makes the cat purr.
Yup, it doesn't seem to effect anything besides the flatness of the treads while in shuttle carrier mode. The rear calves still peg/plug into the main body due to to swapping the calves then turning them 180 degrees. It made sense in my head before I did the mod and I just trusted my logic (probably from past experiences) and went with it. In base mode the rear legs form gun turret towers by basically straightening out, so were good there too. This figure is great, the Lynx portion can store a micromaster in his abdomen and when you drop/extend the ramp, they roll out!
Thank you for this! Having the lynx able to sit up like a cat or look ready to pounce is so much better.
When you say flatness of treads, what do you mean exactly and how bad is it? I'd like to see before I try this, hasbro screws strip way too easily for me to feel comfortable trying this and then possibly having to put it back after.
He is a bit uphill terrain-ed now. I suppose this could be avoided by only swapping at the mushroom peg, but then you wouldn't be able to get an inward stance in Lynx mode. On closer inspection it appears it's the rollers on the tails that really tip him forward. But atleast he is closer to the art now.
