Great review as always. Two quick notes: the back half of DD's driver's cockpit folds up for bird mode. If you have the legs collapsed all the way, the double-jointed cockpit half folds up and over the blue chest piece (hollow side facing out) in this mode to hold it in place (there's a notch in the chest piece for it to hook onto).

Also, it looks like you have the tail and missile attached in the wrong place in bird mode. Both should be much further back (the black clip on the missile clips onto a section closer to the knees), so much so that the tail hangs off the back. When properly assembled, the tail stays in place just fine.

Did anyone find a fix for the leg issue? One of mine pops off if I breathe on them and it's such a nightmare to wedge it back on every time. This is easily the worst transformer I've ever bought in terms of QC.

I was able to acquire this figure recently. I haven't taken it out of the box yet.

How concerned should I be about the legs popping off at the mushroom peg on the knee? How do I avoid it from happening?

Sometimes all it takes is the right display stand.

Only when flipping the shin from its robot mode configuration to alt mode configuration. The space is only just wide enough for the width of the thigh; if it goes even slightly skewed during the process you run the risk of accidentally applying leverage to pop out the joint. Depending on your copy of the toy, the sides of the cavity might be slightly warped, thus limiting the already limited space. On my copy that's the case on one of the legs; the knee is scraping against that tab slot in the below image.

The way to lessen the risk is to already rotate it to have the side face forward. It's easier going from robot to alt mode; it's a bit more finicky the other way but the increased clearance is worth it. Just be careful you don't bang the unfolded foot into the blue paint at the waist.

    F76D81EF-A26E-4407-866F-B897CE22D9E5.jpeg

Of course, there's also the chance that you straight-up get a lemon and have one whose knees disconnect in the most unlikely of situations.

Thanks alot my friend. I really appreciate the detailed explanation. Doubledealer was a figure that I hadn't planned on getting. But, I ended up with one unexpectedly and he's ALOT nicer than I expected. Really awesome figure. Even still, I hate that I'm nervous to transform it:

I don't want to jinx myself but, so far so good on my copy. I'm going to work up to Transforming it. As of right now, it doesn't have any of the QC issues described in this thread so far. He doesn't lean to the right, his hips are tight, and as you can see from the picture, his elbow is strong enough to hold his BFG up in the air.

It's generally the elbow issues that indicate whether you'll have a bad time with Doubledealer lol, so I think your figure is solid (knock on wood, of course). Once you get used to the legs and if you can be bothered with the bird-mode compression, a lot of that initial nervousness will dissipate. As it is, if you treat Doubledealer well, he won't give you a hard time.

I can't figure out for the life of me why I like this figure so much. My main criteria for figures that I like are any combination of: screen time, animation accuracy, and whether I had the original G1 toy as a kid.

Earthrise Doubledealer has none of the above. But strangely, I really like this figure alot.

It could be that he's a combination of three of the absolute best transformers gimmicks, he's a triple changer, he has minions, and he's a mercinary/spy. And Earthrise Doubledealer does all three really well.

Just got him for Christmas and the leg mushroom fell off immediately. Is there a technique or something to get it back in? The peg and knee seem to be blocking it from going back in. F16300A0-AF2A-41D8-A86C-ED9699008D75.jpeg

is his left shoulder insignia panel pinned incorrectly on all copies? its an eyesore, and prevents the decepticon panel from sitting flat.

Same issue on mine, and from pix in this thread it looks like its common. The pin hole that runs through the center joint is drilled incorrectly- it isnt centered on both ends and forces the pin to be deflected

Disassembly was impossible without hamfisting a workaround. I could not get the pin out with a pin punch

I made a cut from the flap to the cylindrical pivot that the pin rins through which allowed me to pull the flap and pin off. This is what allowed me to see the problem. Reassembly was just glu, it doesnt look right.
    Unfortunately i see no fix

the pin cant be removed and the shoulder is also pinned in with no access
