I say it once every year: QW still rules as the best MP Shockwave put there !

I still argue QB edges him out, but yeah, he puts MP-29 to shame at least.

What would really be great is to see pix of QB, QW, and MP-29+ for a true comparison of all versions in the same G1 color scheme (rather than compared against MP-29 or its KO in cartoon livery). I think it would be easier to gauge which is the winner seeing those side-by-side. Maybe perched on a Olympic three-level dais with one taking the gold. ;)

    Agreed.

Those pics above Takara blows Quakewave out of the water. And that's not even using the + as a comparison. Opinions eh?

I think in general proportions the offical MP is more accurate to Shockwave -- save for the legs, something funny is going on there with them bulging on the inside and being quite thin, the latter is more toy accurate.

But Quakewave is the better quality figure and has more presence. Also prefer the colours of the first release Quakewave over any other Shockwave released.

If you like the G1 toy color, then the cartoon color is too jarring. The paleness of the purple always made him seem less menacing.

All I've read say QB and QW seem more imposing than MP-29+, but like I said, a side-by-side comparison would be definitive.

I love mp29 cuz it’s sleek, has the air of a cold and strict scientist and most of all is the most toon accurate, but qw is more bulky and intimidating which kind of reminds me of his idw incarnation which I adore.
Now as for quakeblast, that version looks the most brutal and menacing/imposing.
And that’s not a bad thing but I do find quakewave to be the perfect balance between the mp29 version and quakeblast in my opinion, it has both the air of a cold scientist and the look of a seasoned combatant

Man you are right lol, mp29+ looks sick. That may be the definitive shockwave just with that amazing darker paint scheme, shame I can’t afford it :,)

I do have MP29 displayed in my main cast shelf, at work. I think he looks good among the rest cartoon looking figures that have came out lately. But personally, I like quakeblast the most, even more than quakewave which I still own. Quakeblast brings good memories of my childhood playing with the shockwave toy. It felt heavy and massive when compared with the other g1 toys. Good thing is there are choices for everyone.

I guess it depends which version of Shockwave you prefer. I'm a cartoon guy so that's why I prefer Takara. I don't like Shockwave looking like he's made out of huge blocks, I prefer the sleeker styling.

Quakewave is very much a Marvel Comics brute Shockwave to me.

Quakeblast is a clown. Never rated ol' clown shoes.

All 3 have wrong legs. TT LW's lower part is too skinny, QW's is too blocky and QB has clown feet. QW and QB are 10% too big, LW is 10% too small. Despite his flaws to me Quakewave is the best option. LW just looks cheap and QB a bit weird.

That's really all you need to say, and that's fine. Me, I had the original G1 toy (and Galactic Man too). The cartoon took away a lot of menace of the actual toy, and especially with the color. Pastel purple versus dark near-black purple...well, the decision is easy for me, but I get that some prefer the former.

Now, that's going too far. ;)

QB is the biggest and most daunting version. QW is pretty close though. Still, if you prefer MP-29 both opinions are moot as they just don't fit the bill.

That made me chuckle, as none are too big until the gun is too big to fit into the hand!

To me, capturing all the G1 toy offered, and surpassing it in every way that it made it a success, is the bar set for any MP version. MP-29 didn't meet it, but being based on the cartoon, wasn't even aiming for it. MP-29+, which I would still love to own, is just the same in the latter color, but with all the flaws and meager sizing set by the price point.

QW met the fan desire with most of what everyone wanted that TT didn't provide, and I'll agree, mainly due to the bigger run, that it's considered the definitive version of SW right now as a toy. Yet, QB is the balls out effort, intentionally, to beat all which came before. It's QW on steroids, and it puts it to shame; at least on the core desire of menace, and SW is all about that. That's what tips the scales for me over QW (literally).

However, I'm up for someone doing something better than either. Maybe sound effects...? That's the last thing left undone.

Fair enough, but obviously we're looking for different things. First of all I'm talking about robot mode size, alt mode is not that important for me. Secondly I want my MPs to look mostly toon accurate with a bit of premium deco added plus a few nods to the toy.

Oh, I'm definitely speaking of robot mode size when I speak of QB being more daunting, but max hand size in gun mode goes hand in hand too...no pun intended.

I get the toon accuracy though. For me, knowing that the (early, at least) toy designs came first makes those more definitive for me over animation takes on them, but that's a fundamental TF opinion...or philosophy. Still, darker color in this circumstance speaks overall more to me of threat and menace. For instance, I think others like Cyclonus issued in the same darker scheme would only be helped in the same way.

I love Quakewave for the exact reasons that you like Takara Laserwave. To me, Quakewave looks like he stepped right off the cover of Transformers issue 5

If your interested in buying my new-in-box Quake Wave with it (in case you haven't already purchased a QW) then yes :)
