I assume he won't be as tall as the Jetfire but will make up a fair amount of parts for the price point.

Easy pass. I'm perfectly happy with my SS86 Hot Rod. A big box with a gun for him to stand on isn't worth the ridiculous mark up for me.

 

IMHO I think He'll be as tall as Kingdom Dinobot or possibly he'll be as tall as Cyclonus (to the tips of his bunny ears) which to me is ok.

 

Fansproject Protector is still king.

Yeah I'm generally seeing 1st/2nd drafts, and there can easily be 7-10 updates. So it's definitely not unheard of.

Also I've heard that the photographer's don't always have the instructions, and just have to rush through and shoot a bunch of figures, including ones from other lines (Marvel/Star Wars, Baby Alive etc.).

I'm just hoping it's a mis-transformation and not some engineering that had to be dropped for budget reasons  .

 

OK, wow... I'm so sorry for all the G1 fans who have to settle for this..

I think things are starting to become a little unfair. Beast Wars fans are handed ridiculously good toys and G1 fans..? They always go a cheaper route, because they know "They're going to buy it anyway". Don't get me wrong, a few are really good like Cyclonus. But when I look at Huffer, SS86 Jazz and now this, I get the feeling they save a lot of money on G1 nostagia.

On topic:
All they had to do was modify the Hot Rod voyager slightly and cast him in the proper dark red. For the winnebago they could've simply extended the legs to fit under the trailer and have a faut windshield part fold over the cab part like the MP and some 3P companies did.

And what do you get? An extremely ugly blend of Hot Rods alt mode and Rodimus cab mode that looks terrible on its own. Due to this thing not sliding into the trailer far enough it hurts the winnebago mode aswell.
In ADDITION the car mode doesn't transform whatsoever to accommadate the trailer, resulting in an unsightly extra pair of wheels

This does not fill the commander class pricepoint whatsoever. The only things that bump it up to NOT fit the leader class price point are:
- more surface detailing
- index finger articulation no asked for
- some accessories no one asked for
- the trailer could be slightly too big

So yeah, this thing is probably worth 65 $ or less, slightly more than a leader, but nowhere near 80 $. I am really sorry for you. Such an iconic character should've really gotten more attention. At least the robot mode looks really good (then again they gave him quite a large backpack)

Thank you for your pity, but i'm actually pretty happy with it. Definitely buying two, maybe three. This is the definitive mainline Rodimus i've been waiting for ever since that stupid Energon deluxe.

Yeah.. You think there's a slight chance that he's mistransformed and the spoiler actually shifts forward, allowing the cab to slide in futher. That would also hide the "hot rod" wheels behind the winnebago wheels...

BTW.. how does this thing even turn realistically?? That always baffled me about Rodimus Primes design  

 

Probably the same way a bus or one piece car carrier does.

TT is not really known for egregious mistransformations in their promotional shots.
Looking at the pictures and how much space there is in the trailer, I'm fairly certain the figure is not mistransformed.
