Maybe because in the lore there are characters who resemble other characters? Heck, Centurion (IDW) was originally Bumblebee in a elsewords story, but then it was retconned to be a different character to fit into the larger running series.

    YouTube (Legacy):
Yeah, that's cool and all but again, he's called Bumblebee in the film and toy and it hasn't been retconned ever.

This argument is ridiculous so I'm stopping here.

I heard that Lorenzo Lamas will be in Transformers Movie 27, and that it blows all otter continuities out of the water being both a prequel, remake demake and pseudo sequel to everything in existence.

I mean, at least it wasn't the beaver continuities, or else that might have been considered an international declaration of war, but man, what did the otters ever do to you?

Damn people are still arguing about if bumblebee was a prequel or a reboot?

It needs to be a simple film. Thats where TLK went wrong. They should stick to a BB sequel or BW film.

Totally agree about simplicity. I feel like the Bay films more or less increased in complexity. The first was a pretty straightforward boy teams up with aliens to save the world movie. ROTF is kind of convoluted (mainly because of the rushed and troubled production), but it's still a fairly straightforward narrative. By the time we got to TLK, there was just too much going on. I think one of the reasons people connected with Bumblebee was because it returned the series to a relatively small-scale and straightforward adventure film.

I'm fine with complex stories (even for escapist superhero/cartoon/sci-fi brands), but I'm a believer that a complex story needs to be very well-written. Like, several of the original Star Trek films are pretty complex in terms of themes and plot (The Undiscovered Country is a favorite of mine), but they're very well-written films that know how to convey their complex ideas in a way that makes sense to the audience. Even something like Infinity War (and Endgame to a slightly lesser extent) manages to juggle a lot of characters and locations and ideas successfully. Unless Transformers can handle that sort of writing, I think they're better off keeping the stories simple and straightforward.

My head cannon is that without the staff which was destroyed Quintessa can’t awaken Unicron. It’s a not a good one but it serves as closure.

I wonder what kind of set/filming photos we'll see (if any)? Bumblebee was pretty light on that stuff, but the Beetle leaked and we saw some official promo stuff like Travis Knight posing with Shatter's car. Since Optimus' presence likely won't be a secret this time, I'm hoping we'll see the truck. It would also be cool to see if Bumblebee gets an updated altmode. Of course this is going on the theory that this film involves the automobile bots. If it does turn out to be beasts, we probably won't see anything.

They could also have any outdoors location in Canada stand for whatever South American environment they need. Canada & SA both have beaches, mountains, deserts, forests, cities, etc.
You might obviously know this already & I don’t mean any kind of disrespect by saying this, my family’s from SA & I think a lot of people don’t know about its’ geological diversity.

Here's my thinking on the continuity personally, and feel free to disagree.

I do believe Bumblebee is separate to the canon of the Michael Bay live action films, however that might not had been the original intent, but after The Last Knight not doing as well as they thought, they wanted to see if Bumblebee could kick off a fresh start. You can see sprinkles of the intent in some areas, including concept of Megatron frozen at the base of Sector 7 and Simmons making a proper cameo. I also think there were clashes between directors perhaps, which might explain why Bay decided to add in WW2, but I could be entirely wrong. (By clashes, I don't mean they were fighting, just people have different ideas.) I do remember hearing the Cybertron scene was added late in production, so its possible the original story had Bumblebee still on earth from long ago.

Bumblebee was also in production while The Last Knight was wrapping up, so it'd be kind of weird that they immediately intended to reboot the entire franchise as quickly as they did, especially considering The Last Knight was meant to have a follow up. I'm not someone who's behind the scenes, so I don't know for sure what the original ideas were, what was scrapped, what was added, or anything on the matter. I've heard people mention its in the continuity, and either change or explain otherwise later on. I'm simply giving my personal and respectful perspective and not judging anyone for thinking along or otherwise.

Bumblebee was intended to be a Bayverse prequel when it began production. But TLK's failure gave a reason to change all that. We have an actual audience member who participated on an early screening of Bumblebee and a survey. What he said turned out 100% true when deleted scenes were revealed with Bumblebee's home release.

Anyway, the screening turned out negative reception. Remember that new script writer and 3 months of reshoots ? Yep, that's to remove connections to Bayverse and reshoot the scenes needed to fill in the blanks. Heck, the entire opening scene was changed. Originally, it had Bumblebee and co already on earth and being hunted for crimes they did not commit.

Prior to Toy Fair 2019, a leak came out detailing this change. During Toy Fair, Brian Goldner let slip the term 'Bumblebee Storytelling Universe'. That is when the whole 'Reboot' discussion began properly. As time went by, people at Hasbro and Paramount acknowledge the whole reboot aspect to the public. Except Lorenzo di Bonaventura who is one of the only remaining creative forces from the "Old Guard" a.k.a. Bayverse camp. Rest of the team, including the Writers' Room, was dissolved when Jim Gianopulos took over.
