Why the Autobots visiting Sam's house in TF1 is brilliant.

No seriously, this is the best scene and the funniest moment out of 6 live action films.

For a little context after the Autobots introduced themselves, they went to Sam's house, to find the glasses.

Why this scene is good? The robots. Their just so awkward, Optimus saying: "sorry my bad" makes him sound clumsy and like he didn't intend too mess up anything. The Autobots hiding in their alt modes in the middle of the garden was funny. Ironhide wants to kill Sam's parents, even the writers know their annoying. The Autobots hiding in robot mode, probably got some giggles out of people, and Ratchet cutting the power and saying it felt "tingly."

This scene tells us who the Autobots are, their funny and most important of all, they actually interact with each other. If we get more scenes of the Autobots just being goofballs and not rough housing, that will save the films. I want more of this! The robots feel like friends and family, who are awkwardly adapting to human life.

Honestly, just cut out the low brow humour in the scene (the stupid masturbation joke, namely) and it would be perfect.

That was the most Transformers-feeling scene of the whole five movies. I wish more movies had comedy like that. I especially love when they all turn into vehicle mode like it's at all helping.

The best part is the only "purpose" of the scene is better establishing the robots as characters with personalities, even if only a little bit is gleaned.

That’s probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite scene in that movie

Whenever I see that one scene of them all parked in the backyard, I always think how hard it must've been to cram a giant semi in the middle of those cars. Especially for an average backyard home. Would be a pretty elaborate callback if any newer TF media references it.

That scene left a big impression on me as a kid. Especially the bit where they all try to hide by changing into their alternate modes in the driveway. That's a really clever bit of humor that doesn't feel like it's at the Autobots' expense. I mean, it makes sense that these alien beings don't quite know how this all works.

It really was one of the best bits of comedy in the film series that fit the franchise. Boy and his robot car bring their friends home, and proceed to make a mess, and still not be seen.
We never saw anything else like this again until Bumblebee.

It's a rare bit of simple, honest and fun comedy in a generally edgy and overly serious series.

And it's very Spielberg-esque too, which adds to its appeal. (Spielberg was a producer, not that people remember or care now)

You feel like this was the kind of scene from a movie he would have made. I always thought as producer Spielberg picked Bay to direct these films because he had an eye for spectacle, only he just needed more direction and maturity to expand from his "booms, boobs, and buddies" mentality ... unfortunately we know how THAT turned out within minutes into this scene.

It really was the one scene in an entire 5-part saga that really landed the comedy(shitty masturbation scene following it not withstanding)

My favorite part of that scene is when Ironhide asks if he can take the parents out, and Ratchet is next to him like a giddy little kid, nodding and going “yeah yeah yeah”

I always loved how they portrayed the autobots in this scene. They’re like one big awkward family.

I remember going back to read old comments to see what people thought when the movie was relatively new, and for some reason something that a lot of people kept saying were complaints about Optimus Prime saying "my bad." I've never understood why people had an issue with that. Of all the complaints about not respecting the source material (most of which I would agree with), I just find that to be a very specific and bizarre complaint.

Those complaints usually came from the same people who just could not stand the fact that Optimus had his ass handed to him by Megatron.

They're like the complete opposite of Bay — they're GEEWUNERS who think that the G1 movie is the best thing ever and that all incarnations of Optimus should be written like Optimus was in that film and any Optimus who isn't has been "ruined forever".

The blame for the characterization of Prime Optimus and the ease with which Bayformers Optimus is able to mow down Decepticons in later movies can at least be partially attributed to these people, as well as the uncreative and unoriginal executives at Hasbro stupid enough to listen to them.

Fantastic scene, but here is an unpopular opinion: I actually enjoyed the parents overall too in this scene

TF'07 may not be a great movie - but it remembered to have fun with the characters, at least.

Afraid to say that it didn't work for me - I just couldn't work out how they weren't seen by anyone.

I did like them transforming to 'hide' though!
